Rockstar has posted a new set of screenshots for Max Payne 3 on the game’s official website, and the assets are the same ones you will find in the latest edition of Official PlayStation Magazine. The majority show our doomed hero looking a bit younger and svelte than in the shots where he has a shaven head and a bit of a gut. Don’t worry, fans of Max’s new look, there’s one of those tossed in for good measure. The three without a Rockstar logo are posted courtesy of Gamekyo. Rockstar San Diego, the creator of Red Dead Redemption and Midnight Club, seems to be developing another open-world game if new job listings are any clue.

Take-Two has released its results for Q3 of fiscal year 2012, and the firm has posted revenue of $236.3 million, compared to $334.3 million year-over-year when Red Dead Redemption was released. For the nine-month period ending December 31, 2011, revenue was $677.7 million, compared to $954.6 million for the same period last year, and losses of $41.7 million.

Rockstar has announced the official launch of the Max Payne 3 website, and with it the first in a series of “interactive features”focusing on the weapons in the game. The first of these features, a video showing the 608 Bull revolver, is posted below. The gun is very large and contains eight rounds of “staggering firepower” which can be deployed rather accurately over short distances. If you head on through the link, you will become privy to the first details on one of the “most vicious cartels” in Max Payne 3, the Comando Sombra. The game is out on PS3 and Xbox 360 May 15 and on PC May 29 in the US and June 1 in Europe.

According to a report by US-based financial analyst Baird Equity Research, two upcoming titles – Grand Theft Auto V and the next Call of Duty – will account for almost a quarter of all video game sales in the coming fiscal year.

Sony looks set to release Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as PS2 Classics on PSN, according to recent ESRB ratings. As noted by Siliconera, San Andreas wasn’t rated, however. Sony Computer Entertainment America is shown as the publishers in the ratings, not Rockstar. PS2 downloadable classics have been available since last year in the US, but have yet to make the jump to Europe.

Remedy’s moved on from the IP with Alan Wake, the latest installment being American Nightmare on XBLA, which is due sometime between next month and March. Max Payne 3 is due out in March.

Max will show off his various looks when Max Payne 3 lands on shelves in March. The game takes trips down memory lane, which explains why you’ll see him clean shaven in one shot, growing a beard in the other, and opting for the bald-and-bearded look in the other two. Head on over to the Rockstar Blog for the rundown on Max Payne 3′s real world inspirations, including some side-by-side reference photos from São Paulo and in-game assets. There’s an outline of how the game’s fictional special forces unit, Unidade de Forças Especiais, lines up with real law enforcement groups, as well as the gangs which inspired the baddies. May Payne 3 arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March.

The third game in the action series, developed at Rockstar Vancouver, launches in March for PS3, 360 and PC.

Rockstar has released a set of new screenshots for Max Payne 3 showing mainly the game’s multiplayer, but there are a few shots of the man himself from the single-player campaign in there as well. Max Payne 3 is out in March for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
