PopCap and Wooga pull titles off Google +

bubble island

PopCap and Wooga have pulled titles off Google+, less than a year after games launched on the social service. Wooga plans to pull all three titles Bubble Island, Diamond Dash and Monster World, by July 1. PopCap’s only title on the service, Bejeweled Blitz, will be pulled as early as next week. Both firms are pulling the titles due to the lack of support for the social networking service as compared to Facebook. After the pull, 40 games will remain on Google + from makers such as Zynga and Rovio. Thanks, Social Games Observer. Via Polygon.

PopCap’s next game is a Facebook-only affair, according to IndustryGamers. Solitaire Blitz joins the casual developer’s other social network efforts, Bejeweled Blitz and Zuma Blitz, in March. A social version of Solitaire seems like an oxymoron, but PopCap has promised to work its magic on the classic single-player card game. Plants vs Zombies’ Crazy Dave releases hip hop song for charity

crazy-dave-plants-vs-zombies

You might remember this video from way back in September. PopCap originally released this video during TGS for no apparent reason at all. Today we’re getting word that PopCap has made the song available for download on iTunes with all of the profits going to charity.

The charity involved is called Concern Worldwide and works to benefit some of the poorest places on Earth. If you’ve got £0.79/$0.99 to spare then head on over to iTunes to pick up a copy for a good cause. The music video is embedded after the break.

Peggle HD hits iPad, immediately goes on sale

peggle

In its continued conquest to monopolize the entire world’s supply of free time, Peggle’s launching a diabolical silver ball at yet another platform. This time, it’s your iPad that’s become a gateway to PopCap’s empire of maniacal compulsion. Still on the fence? Well then, how about a sale to coax you down? Peggle HD‘s currently $2.99 (or £1.99), to which PopCap enthusiastically tweeted: “That’s a price drop!” Ah yes, the most tempting words in the English language. Music to our miserly ears.
