Plants vs Zombies 2 pushed back to early summer
In a press release regarding the newly-revealed social effort Plants vs Zombies Adventures, PopCap also mentioned that the sequel to the best-selling tower defence title has been delayed. Originally expected sometime in northern spring, Plants vs Zombies 2 is now lasted for an “early summer” release. We still know almost nothing about the much-anticipated title, but you can probably expect it on a range of platforms thanks to EA’s porting grunt.

Plants vs Zombies Adventures now in closed beta
PopCap has quietly unveiled Plants vs Zombies Adventures, a social adaptation of its much-loved tower defence effort now in beta on Facebook. Only a few players are onboard, with wider availability expected during northern spring. The “highly accessible” social spin-off promises exclusive new plants and zombie and all-new forms of combat, sending players on road trips to counter the undead menace in new locations, and was outed by domain registrations earlier this month.

Solitaire Blitz out now on iOS
PopCap’s latest release is not, alas, an expansion to Plants vs Zombies, but instead a new take on Solitaire using the publisher’s now-famous Blitz formula. Having already attracted a large following on Facebook and launched via the App Store today, Solitaire Blitz is free, and available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. It gives players 60 seconds to clear decks and also go on an “underwater adventure”. Somehow.

Plants vs Zombies Adventure domains registered by EA
EA has made a number of domain registrations for something called Plants vs Zombies Adventure, as dug up by industry gumshoe Superannuation. The registrations were all made in early March. There’s no indication whatsoever what it might be, but given PopCap’s recent liking for Facebook spin-offs of its properties, like Bejeweled Blitz, I’m putting $5 on “social game” – however it may be worth dusting off this old rumour about a multiplayer shooter set in the PvZ universe.

Bejeweled, Bejeweled Blitz getting the board game treatment
PopCap and Hasbro have teamed up to turn Bejeweled and Bejeweled Blitz into face-to-face games. Polygon reports Bejeweled will task players with matching tiles and come with a download code for Bejeweled 3, while Bejeweled Blitz requires the rapid creation of card stacks and comes with free in-app items for the Facebook game. It’s not the weirdest board game the industry has produced; have you seen Words with Friends? Ha ha, gosh.

Plants vs Zombies trading cards on sale, all proceeds to charity
Plants vs Zombies trading cards are on sale at 20% off until November 30, with all proceeds donated to an unnamed charity. Polygon reports you can grab the cards for $79.20 from PopCap’s online store; each box contains 24 packs of seven cards. You’ll get all sixty unique cards in a full box, and PopCap will throw in a signed card or a sketch from original PvZ artist Rich Werner, the game’s original artist, during the sale.

Plants vs. Zombies Pinball table releases for Zen Pinball 2 next week
A Plants vs. Zombies Pinball table will release for Zen Pinball 2, Zen Studios and PopCap have announced. Players will use the pinball to collect sunlight as well as money in order to purchase plants. The pinball table will run you $2.99 on PSN which includes Vita and PS3 Cross-Buy features. Alternatively, it will run you 240 MS Points on XBLA where the game is known as Pinball FX 2. It releases next week. A trailer is below.

Plants vs Zombies creator laid off from PopCap – report
Plants vs. Zombies creator George Fan is one of the employees at PopCap who have been laid-off by the company, according to a blog post on 1UP. However, Shack notes Fan wasn’t involved with Plants vs Zombies 2. New broke yesterday that the EA-owned studio had made a number of cuts at its Seattle headquarters and its Dublin location and the later is also being evaluated to see if things can be improved “without having to close the operation.”
