Cryptic has released a set of screenshots for Neverwinter, its free-to-play action MMORPG based on the Dungeons and Dragons property. Slated for release in 2013, the shots shows off the Blackdagger Ruins and the area, Vellosk. If videos are more your speed, ActionTrip has also posted a video featuring the ruins, along with one of the Vellosk zone. Enjoy.

A Neverwinter trailer which focuses on the lore of the Chasm has been released. It’s posted below courtesy of IGN. In the Chasm, remnants of the Spellplague still “twist life into an army of horrors aimed at the city of Neverwinter.” Spooky. The Chasm map will be one of the major adventure zones in Neverwinter when it launches, and players of the MMO will be fighting in the rift, where Neverwinter meets the Chasm where foul creatures full of madness personified constantly assault the walls of Neverwinter. The free-to-play action MMORPG based on the Dungeons and Dragons property is slated for release in early 2013.

Star Trek Online Season 7: New Romulus is now live. The update finds both Federation and Klingon Captains working alongside Romulan leader D’Tan to search for a new home world for the Romulan refugees.

If you can make it to Paris Games Week, which kicks off on October 31 and runs through November 4, stop by one of Perfect World Entertainment’s 20 booths to have a go at the playable Neverwinter demo on offer to the public. As well as scoring a sneak peek at the MMO, you’ll also be guaranteed access to an upcoming beta, which is a pretty sweet deal. Neverwinter, a free-to-play action MMORPG effort from Cryptic Studios based on the classic Dungeons and Dragons property, has not yet been dated beyond early 2013.

Champions Online’s Blood Moon is back and the Undying Lord Takofanes is once again raising havoc. The Blood Moon event started yesterday, and runs through Monday, October 15. During that time, players can participate in zombie invasions, slaying undead heroes and take on Takofanes. Rewards and a new perk will be handed out as well. More details are through here. Neverwinter, the 2013 MMO in development at Cryptic, has a new video available showing off the Guardian Fighter. The tank class pretty much does what tanks do: deals and takes all the damage handed to it while ranged players help the tank chip away at the enemy with loads of pew-pew-pewing. The Nighthawk event for Champions Online has gone live. It includes a number of “new stealth and gadget-based powers,” including calling in “a deadly Strafing Run.” The video and screens also provide the first look at vehicles in the MMO, and Hawkwing jets are available now.

Neverwinter is on display at gamescom, and its publisher Perfect World, has sent over screenshots of content in the free-to-play MMO Cryptic is showing at the event. Folks at gamescom are encouraged to stop by the Neverwinter booth and get some hands on time with Storming the Keep, one of the game’s public events set in the Black Dagger Ruins zone. In it, players will “band together to reclaim a fortress that has fallen into the hands of an ill-intentioned group of bandits.” Neverwinter is slated for release sometime towards the end of the year. Cryptic and Perfect World Entertainment have released Star Trek Online Season 6: Under Siege. The update introduces the Fleet Advancement System, which allows Fleet members to construct, level-up and defend their own Starbase. Alongside new Fleet events and additional end-game content for max level players,it’s the first major Foundry update since launch and also includes: Fleet Starbase Defense Missions, Fleet Rewards, and a Fleet UI Redesign. Just a head up for those who play Star Trek Online of Champions Online: starting tomorrow, July 12, Cryptic Points will convert over to Perfect World’s ZEN currency. The move will squash any confusion over currency by making things simpler. You can learn more here.

Cryptic has announced that lifetime subscribers to Star Trek Online or Champions Online will automatically be give access to the Neverwinter closed beta. Invites will be handed out over the course of the testing period. Those who are interesting in obtaining a lifetime sub for either game can do so until June 29, as the perk if on sale for both games now at $100 off. Thanks, TenTonHammer.

Joystiq reports free-to-play shooter Blacklight Retribution is on its way to Steam, although developer Zombie Studios declined to give a date. The game is already available for direct download, but the Steam version will sport Steam-exclusive in-game items and all the usual community features like achievements and stat tracking. Blacklight Retribution will join a growing number of free-to-play titles on Valve’s digital distribution service.

Perfect World and Cryptic Studios have released two new videos for the MMO Neverwinter, which explores the lore. The game is set on the Sword Coast where the main city of Neverwinter, Jewel of the North, sits. Of course, if you are familiar with the Forgotten Realms campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons you already know this. If not, you learned something today. One of the trailers explores the lore of Vellosk ans shows in-game content, while the other, The Siege of Neverwinter pt. 2 is a CGI affair – part one is through here. The game is slated for release sometime towards the end of the year and will be free-to-play.
