Guild Wars 2 developers discuss the “state-of-the-game” in latest video
ArenaNet and the folks over at Guild Wars 2 Guru have collaborated on a video in which development team members Tyler Bearce, Karl McClain and Johnathan Sharp discuss the “state-of-the-game”. According to Massively, the topics covered span balancing, matchmaking, Spirit Watch and future plans. The video is a bit long, so grab some refreshment before you start.

Guild Wars 2 designer wants to “slow down” on new systems
ArenaNet added a whole bunch of new systems to Guild Wars 2 post-launch to stop players running out of content too quickly, but is approaching the limits of how complicated it can make the game.

Wildstar update explores Deradune
This week’s Wildstar update introduces the Deradune region. The Dominion-claimed landscape boasts savannahs, mountains and floating trees, and is home to the Bloodfire Clan Draken, vicious monsters, hostile natives, an ancient Eldan exo-lab, and some sort of necromantic mystery. It’s also home to allies Clanlord Makaza, Huntress Kezziaa and Agent Lex, and enemies the Falkrin, Moodies and the Metal Maw. Screens through the break.

Guild Wars 2 March updates to expand WvW combat, Living Story content
ArenaNet has dropped a pile of new informaiton on upcoming changes to Guild Wars 2. In an interview with MMORPG.com, principle programmer Habib Loew discuses how the world versus world system will be overhauled to make it more rewarding. Meanwhile, in a blog post on ArenaNet’s site, Living Story lead Angel McCoy shares details of how this new kind of of narrative will evolve, and promises to ramp up content at the end of March.

Guild Wars 2 connection errors related to patch demand
Guild Wars 2 is throwing connectivity errors. A post on the MMORPG’s forums asks for patience, and puts the blame on “everybody” downloading a 500MB patch “at the same time”.

Guild Wars 2 guild missions detailed, trailered as game goes on sale
ArenNet has released a new trailer showing some of the new guild missions coming to the MMO with the update on February 26. The developer has also updated its blog with some pertinent information on the matter. On top of all this, the game is on sale until February 25. Guild Wars 2 patch to address irregular loot drops issue
MMO players are always complaining that they don’t get enough decent loot drops, but it looks like Guild Wars 2 fans were correct. In a forum post, ArenaNet said it had investigated complaints and believes its found the cause of the issue, and will correct it in the game’s next major patch, due later this month. You’ll still receive fewer drops than in gear-focused MMOs, but ArenaNet is also making certain areas of the game more rewarding, equipment-wise.

Guild Wars 2 introduced new PvP map, Spirit Watch
ArenaNet has put together a new PvP map to Guild Wars 2. Called Spirit Watch, the map releases in a free content update on February 26, and supports a hybrid of conquest and capture-the-flag style, with players vying to win the Orb of Ascension. Trailer through the break.

NCSoft acquires license to use Epic’s Unreal Engine 4
Epic Games has entered into a long-term deal with NCSoft, which grants the later a license to use Unreal Engine 4 for its upcoming projects. It is the the first Korean studio to license the engine. NCSoft has licensed previous version of the engine in the past: Lineage II used Unreal Engine 2 and Blade & Soul was developed with Unreal Engine 3. Additional details around regarding NCSoft’s use of Unreal Engine 4 in its projects are to be announced at a later date.

WildStar videos introduce the Dominion faction, Stalker class
WildStar has a new video available which introduces the Dominion. You can also check out some information on the Stalker class through the game’s blog and a video of it below, as well. We also have some screenshots of the Draken, Mechari and Stalker below. The Carbine Studios developed sci-fi MMO will be published by NCSoft and will be released sometime this year.

Guild Wars 2 schedules four hour maintenance today
Guild Wars 2 will udnergo scheduled server maintenance later today. The downtime kicks off at midnight PST and runs through 4:00AM PST, which is prime gaming time in Australia and New Zealand but not too bad elsewhere. You won’t be able to log into either North American or European servers, and the MMO’s forums, account registration, and online store will be inaccessible. The Black Lion Trading Company will also go down, and will not return for a further two hours past the maintenance end time.

Guild Wars 2: Flame and Frost part two kicks off February 26
ArenaNet has slapped a date down on the second instalment of Guld Wars 2′s very first Living Story arc, Flame and Frost. Although some aspects of the ongoing story arc are already available, the real meat will be available on February 26 when The Gathering Storm goes live with new PvP map Spirit Watch, new guild missions and additional merits. The Living Story arcs are designed to have lasting impact on the world of Guild Wars 2, but are time limited, so check out the details and make sure you see everything before the next phase begins later this month.

Guild Wars 2 – World vs World changes delayed to next month
ArenaNet has delayed the Guild Wars 2 World vs World changes to next month, according to game director Colin Johanson. Originally planned for release this month, the changes will now be applied in March. Other updates planned for the MMO include “continual optimization of game models and data compression” to reduce performance issues, reports

Guild Wars 2 mandatory password change next week
Guild Wars 2 players who have not changed their passwords since September 2012 will be required to do so on February 7. In a blog post, ArenaNet explained that a system of blacklisting certain passwords used in past hacking attempts was introduced in September, and has been so successful that it wants everyone to benefit. If you’re using ageing login details, head over to the MMORPG’s account management site to change your password – or just wait for Thursday, when you will be prompted to switch things up or be barred from logging in.

Guild Wars 2 server “Guesting” coming with January update
ArenNet has announced that the Guesting feature for Guild Wars 2 will launch with the January update. The feature allows players to “visit” different worlds (servers) temporarily, so they can quest with friends and other members of the community. Think of it as visiting the house next door but not taking up permanent residence. There are a few restrictions, which you can find outlined in the post. Free server transfers will also go the way of the Dodo with the update, so if you want to change worlds without paying anything, you will need to do it before it goes live on January 28.

Guild Wars 2 has sold over 3 million copies since August, 2013 content plans outlined
Guild Wars 2 has sold over3 million copies since its August, according to an update on the MMO’s website from director Colin Johanson, who also outlined the team’s 2013 plans for the title starting with expanding and leveraging the achievement system.
