Ken Kutaragi appointed as Marvelous AQL’s external director
Ken Kutaragi has been named Marvelous AQL’s external director, and will assume his new position at the end of June. According to a a Nikkei report, the former chairman, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and “The Father of the PlayStation”, will help the firm develop its business further in Japan and in western markets. Marvelous AQL announced earlier this week its subsidiary, XSEED had been absorbed into the firm, and will serve as the Japanese company’s US arm. Thanks,

Soul Sacrifice sells through 76% of first production run
A small addendum to this week’s Media Create Japanese retail charts. In addition to shifting 114,446 units and debuting in second position on the charts, Soul Sacrifice sold through 76% of its initial stock during its first week on sale, according to Siliconera. It sounds like Sony may have a bigger than expected hit on its hands with the Keji Infanune Vita RPG. It’s the third Vita title to break 100,000 units in its first week, along with Hatsune Miku Project Diva F and Persona 4 The Golden. Soul Sacrifice arrives in the west at the end of April.

Oboro Muramasa not just a port of The Demon Blade
Marvellous unveiled upcoming Vita title Oboro Muramasa during Sony’s TGS press conference, but didn’t give any details beyond a March 2013 Japanese release date. Follow-up reports suggest the game is an enhanced release of Wii classic Muramasa: The Demon Blade, with added bells and whistles. According to Gematsu‘s translation, the gorgeous slasher will be backed up by DLC, including an entirely new module called Mysterious Legend of the Genroku Era to be detailed in Famitsu this week.

New Little King’s Story Aussie release date secured
Konami’s local representatives have let us know that New Little King’s Story arrives on Australian Vitas on October 4. A portable reworking of the sadly undervalued Wii original, New Little King’s Story sports touch controls, a new story, social features and DLC on top of its core RPG mechanics. It’s coming to the US and Europe next month, too.

Half-Minute Hero – teaser image indicates the Marvelous title is heading to Steam
Half-Minute Hero Super Mega Neo Climax may be heading to Steam, if a mysterious teaser image sent to D’toid is any indication. There’s not much to the image, only an outline of some characters and reveal date of September 27. There’s a Marvelous logo at the bottom and a sign featuring a steam engine, so it’s sounds pretty cut-and-dry. Half-Minute Hero Super Mega Neo Climax was originally released on PSP and finally landed on Xbox Live back in June 2011.
