Ex-2K Czech designer jumps to Kojipro
Here’s an interesting little blip; Kojima Productions has hired Jordan Amaro, formerly of the IGDA, 2K Czech and Crytek UK, as a designer on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The young developer has credits as a level mission designer on an unannounced 2K Czech game – presumably Mafia 3 – and as a designer on Homefront 2. He joined Kojima productions in March; it’s not clear how senior his role is. MGS 5: The Phantom Pain is expected on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, although nobody knows when or whether it will come to other formats or even how many games it is.
Thanks, Junichi.

Here’s Kojima’s FOX Engine tech demo from GDC
This week we got to see a presentation from Kojima and co., and aside from discussing Metal Gear Solid 5 they also showed off that game’s new engine, the FOX Engine. And, I should say, it really does look nice. Click through for a short video demonstrating its graphical fidelity.

Kojima explains why Hayter is not in Metal Gear Solid 5
Wednesday we learned that David Hayter, longtime voice actor for Solid Snake and Big Boss, will not be back for Metal Gear Solid 5. GameTrailers asked Hideo Kojima how that could be, and he gave them an answer. “It will be a new person, I can’t say who yet. What we’re trying to accomplish is to recreate the Metal Gear series. It’s a new type of Metal Gear game, and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well.”

Metal Gear Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5 are separate games
Yesterday at GDC, Hideo Kojima said that Metal Gear Ground Zeroes and faux-mysterious Phantom Pain were actually together Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and also that Ground Zeroes is the prologue. We interpreted that to mean they are one game, but that is not the case. A Konami spokesperson told GameSpot Ground Zeroes and MGS5 are separate titles. OK.

David Hayter says he was not asked to be in Metal Gear Solid 5
Well, this is certainly interesting. After watching the trailer and gameplay demo for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain earlier today, I thought it was strange that Snake (Big Boss, it would appear) did not speak at all. David Hayter, previous voice for Snakes both Solid and Naked, went to Twitter to say he “had a good run.”

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow turns up in Steam registry
Although the sequel has been confirmed for PC release, there’s been no word of 2010′s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow making the jump from consoles. That hasn’t stopped DSOGaming finding the MercurySteam action effort on the Steam registry. I’ve asked Konami for an explanation, but we can probably expect a pile of new intel on the series pretty soon, as the second game is apparently on a press junket at the moment.
Thanks, EvilAvatar.

If Konami really wants us to believe Joakim Mogren and his Swedish studio Moby Dick are real, they’re going to have to do better than front a bloke with his face covered in bandages.

According to MetalGearSolid.nl‘s translation of an interview on MetalGearSolid.be, Kojima Productions’ Ken Imaizumi said Hideo Kojima’s GDC presentation will be livestreamed. GDC sessions are normally filmed and made available after the show, but Kojima’s presentation is unusual in another way, being 90 minutes long. Kojima will discuss the FOX Engine and show footage of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, so cross your fingers for word we’ll all be able to tune in. GDC runs March 25 through 29, and Kojima’s presentation is scheduled for 11:00 AM PT March 27.
Thanks, Johnny.
