Confirming long-held suspicions that Hideo Kojima will not live forever while continuing to make Metal Gear games in perpetuity until humankind becomes extinct, Kojima himself told Xbox Wire that at some point somebody else will be in charge of making new entries in the popular stealth franchise.

Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions will arrive on PlayStation Network next week. The announcement stems from the latest PlayStation Blogcast. The ESRB rated the content for PSP, PlayStation 3 and Vita back in July. Known in Europe as Special Missions, the 1999 collection contains challenges bundled with the re-release of Metal Gear Solid in Japan and was sold as an add-on disc elsewhere. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has an interesting piece of PlayStation 4 exclusive content – a mission in which you play as Solid Snake, from MGS, MGS 2 and MGS 4, as opposed to Big Boss, the Snake seen in Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will release with PlayStation-exclusive content, according to a display image posted by Hideo Kojima on Twitter. According to the display which was set up for the PS4 launch event in New York – and you have to squint to see it – the game contains “Exclusive content on PlayStation platforms”. The information was noticed by a NeoGAF user. The game’s out this spring on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Thanks, CVG.
