Concept art for Fallout MMO released

In between its lawsuit with Bethesda over the rights to the IP, Interplay has released concept art of the Fallout MMO, which is still in development at the studio, despite the lawsuit.
“Keep in mind that this is concept art. It’s not finalized art, but it will give you a feel for what we are aiming for with V13,” said Interplay’s Chris Taylor.
You need to be signed up to their forums to see the art, but you can also see them at Kotaku.

Both games will release next summer.

Meet the new Earthworm Jim, same as the old Earthworm Jim

Yesterday’s announcement that Gameloft had picked up the rights to give your Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii a case of the worms wasn’t exactly clear on what form said creepy-but-not-crawly would take. Would it be a new game, or would it be a port of a classic earthworm escapade? G4 asked Gameloft, and promptly received an answer.
“A Gameloft representative has confirmed to me it’s a remake of the 1994 original game released on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, not a new game,” reads G4′s post.
So that’s that.

New Earthworm Jim coming to PS3, Xbox, and Wii

Gameloft and Interplay are in cahoots to put Earthworm Jim back on the map, it would seem. The two companies have partnered to develop and publish a new title in the series that will eventually grace the likes of PSN and WiiWare.
First, though, Jim’s making a month-long pit stop on Xbox Live Arcade, as a timed exclusive. The early bird gets the Earthworm Jim? Something like that, we guess.
The game’s out sometime during the last quarter of 2009. Pertinent press is after the break.

Interplay ended 2008 with no money

GI’s dragged through an SEC filing to discover that Interplay finished 2008 with zero funds.
The firm ended last year with a cash balance of $0 and a deficit of approximately $2.4 million.
The publisher is actively seeking financing or income, without which it will be forced to liquidate assets, sell the company or face bankruptcy.
“We continue to seek external sources of funding,” Interplay said, “including but not limited to, incurring debt, the selling of assets or securities, licensing of certain product rights in selected territories, selected distribution agreements, and/or other strategic transactions sufficient to provide short-term funding, and achieve our long-term strategic objectives.”
More through there.

GameTap’s announced a deal with Interplay that will see Fallout, Descent and MDK released for free on the service.

Interplay announces Earthworm Jim 4
Interplay has teamed up with original Earthworm Jim chap Douglas TenNapel to create Earthworm Jim 4, the publisher has announced.
In addition to creating the title, TenNapel will assist on making an “animated series and feature film to expand the well-known brand.”
He previously worked on an Earthworm Jim animated series in 1995 and 1996, apparently.
The game’s platforms and release date haven’t been confirmed.
Thanks, 1up.

Interplay looking for Fallout MMO funding, announces raft of oldie sequels
Interplay has announced earnings of $6 million for fiscal 2007 and plans to gain funding for a Fallout MMO.
Outlining a roadmap for the company’s future, a statement said that “management is working to secure funding for the development of a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) based on the popular Fallout franchise. Interplay sold Fallout in 2007 while obtaining a license back, under certain conditions, to create and develop a Fallout MMOG.”
In addition, and almost unbelievably, the company has also announced intentions to create sequels to Earthworm Jim, Dark Alliance, Descent, and MDK.
The return of Interplay as a resurgent concern in games publishing was signalled by the semi-launch of Interplay.com at the beginning of March.
Press release after the link.

Interplay is “coming soon”, says site
No fucking way. According to this, Interplay is about the re-emerge. The site says the publisher is “coming soon”, and shows an image of EarthWorm Jim, a female drow from Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, concept art of Fallout Online, and Kurt from MDK. It’s rumoured here that in about two weeks Interplay will submit a new 10-Q, a quarterly performance report that public companies must submit to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The memories. The triple whiskies. The screaming PRs and allegations of irresponsible journalism. Block it out. All in the past now.
