Bank holiday unnews – El Shaddai re-releasing in Japan

elshad

UTV Ignition is re-releasing El Shaddai in Japan, according to Siliconera, a story likely to set the tone of today’s UK bank holiday by mattering to less than a dozen people on a global level. The reprint is titled El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Encore Edition, and will be out on May 17. Looks like it’s just a 360 thing.

El Shaddai tease is for social spin-off

el shaddai social battle

The teaser that appeared a while back that suggested a sequel for cult classic El Shaddai was on its way is, in fact, for a social spin-off game called El Shaddai Social Battle. The game sees you, according to GameSpot, “build a party of up to three angels to partake in quests to climb up to the top of a tower, mostly through turn-based conflict.” Players are encouraged to team with other angels to fight against those guarding the tower.

The game will arrive on Japanese social platform Gree.

Amazon sends out pre-order cancellation notices for Vanillaware RPG Dragon’s Crown

dragons crown

NeoGAF users are reporting Amazon has cancelled pre-orders for Vanillaware’s PS Vita-PS3 crossover, action-RPG Dragon’s Crown, which is to be published by Ignition. We had a look over on Amazon, and sure enough, the game is no longer listed as far as we can tell – however, GAF notes it’s a bit hard to find on the site. The game is still listed for sale on Amazon Canada, so hopefully it’s just some sort of burp in the US system. It’s possible, as things like this have happened before, most recently with GameStop’s Last Guardian gaff. We’ll send a mail just in case.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron going 2D, coming to Android

elshaddaiandroid

El Shaddai’s taking its drop-dead gorgeous show on the road. Or at least, roads paved with Google’s ever-popular mobile OS. Famitsu (via Andriasang) revealed the bite-sized adaptation to be a 2D platformer, which is pretty much par for the course with these things. Leap-based shenanigans are, of course, great and all, but the real question is whether or not the game’s unique sense of style made the jump intact. So far, we’ve only got one screen to go on, but, uh, let’s just say they could have picked a better screen.
