Awesomenauts to be released on PSN and XBLA in February
Awesomenauts will be released on PSN and XBLA in February, according to developer Ronimo Games. “Though we understand that fans may initially feel disappointed that the game will not be released before the end of the year, we will make sure to use the extra time available to us to polish Awesomenauts even further,” said studio co-founder Jasper Koning via Eurogamer. The 80′s TV-inspired 2D multiplayer brawler was announced earlier this year.

PSA: The Cursed Crusade out today in the UK
dtp entertainment and Mastertronic have released The Cursed Crusade for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in the UK today. The cooperative third-person action-adventure centers around a pair of cursed warriors fighting to save their souls in medieval Europe. The game features various fighting techniques, with over 100 different attacks and over 100 finishing moves through the use of various weaponry including swords, axes, spears and shields, and more. You can even use everyday items laying about the gameworld as weapons, because according to the game description: “If you can lay your hands on it, it can likely be used in combat.” Over in the US, the Kylotonn-developed title is to be published by Atlus, and will release on October 25.

What’s 260 seconds long and goes a bit mental after the first 20 seconds? Why, that’ll be the new trailer outlining an outlandish new free-to-play MMO based on the books of Tad Williams, of course. Video below.

It’s time to kick butt and chew tobacco with latest Awesomenauts video
dtp and Ronimo have announced Sherriff Lonestar, a mercenary in the robot wars in Awesomenauts. Lonestar makes use of dynamite, holo-bulls, a space blaster, and he can even double-jump in mid-air, apparently. Players can even spiffy him up with a techno viking helmet, and cheetag bullets. Awesomenauts multiplayer allows for 3 player local or 6 players online, has matchmaking options, 100 ublockable items and an 80s-style cartoon soundtrack. Awesomenauts is slated for release later this year on PSN and XBL.

Indie and other games of interest: Become a shark, hunt down vampires

There are a few tidbits of indie and other games of interest stuff past the break this week. One stand out, in our opinion, is Miami Shark, where you literally get to play as one of the giant fish. Awesome stuff.
Also, there’s the usual free stuff, sneak peeks and a barrage of other stuff you normally wouldn’t see during the week.

Indie and other games of interest: Gray Matter, Great Battles, free stuff

This week in indie and other games of interest, we have an update on Gray Matter, some free-to-play titles, and a couple demos for you to try out.
Also of note: Iceberg Interactive’s announced the release of the bundle British Horror Pack consisting of Dark Fall: The Journal Classic Edition, Dark Fall: Lights Out The Director’s Cut Edition, and Barrow Hill; Slitherine has digitally released History: Great Battles – Medieval earlier than the physical disc; and there’s a zombie game titled Zombie Driver which has you pulling a Rebecca Gayheart on the undead with your vehicle.

Indie and other games of interest: Hey look, it’s all in one post

During the course of the week, loads of indie games, less mainstream titles and those point-and-click adventures you are always hearing about, sometimes get lost in the shuffle -what with news on Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 happening every three minutes or so.
That’s why, much like the MMO news round-up, we’ve decided to remedy this by giving you a heads up on news, demos, patches, announcements, trailers, screens and other doodads pertaining to these games that you missed out on during the week.

While not comprehensive, since there are loads of this sort out there, we will do our best to be as thorough as possible.

EA to host Homophobia in Virtual Communities panel this Saturday

EA will host a panel on homophobia in videogame culture sponsored by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) this Saturday.
Joining Electronic Arts will be the Entertainment Software Association, GayGamer.net, Linden Labs, and Microsoft.
Discussions include how to best “provide safe spaces for LGBT people online”, “how to ensure the best policies are in place to prevent virtual attacks against LGBT people” and “how to educate the users of online communities about the effects of homophobia.”
The event is being held at EA’s Redwood Studios from 11am-1pm and is open to the public.

Drakensang prequel confimed for 2010

Drakensang: The River Of Time has been announced by dtp entertainment, and is expected for early 2010 release on PC.
Not much is known about the game at this point, other than the fact it’s a prequel to Drakensang: The Dark Eye.
One thing is for sure though: expect more of the cool medieval music that keeps us RPG fans all of a tizzy.

dtp unveils cyberpunk MMO, Otherland
Eurogamer’s posted first details of Otherland, a dtp-developed MMO based on the books of American author Tad Williams.
It’s out in 2010. As the site puts it:
Otherland takes place in a near future where the super-rich have their own private virtual worlds on the net, peopled both by AI, and unwitting humans who don’t know that what they’re experiencing isn’t real.

All titles to be shown at Games Convention in one place
German site 4players has put up a handy chart of all the announced games to be shown in the press conferences at Games Convention this week, and it’s not looking too shabby.
Expect surprises, especially from Sony. Very useful, that: bookmark it.

dtp receives Xbox 360 publisher status
Big up the dtp. The German company has been granted Xbox 360 publisher status. There’s no confirmation of console projects as yet, however.
“This is a crucial step on our path to becoming a multi-platform publisher. Our first Xbox 360 title will be announced shortly”, said COO Markus Windelen. “Products for the next generation consoles and further international expansion are important milestones for dtp. So far we have been publishing our games mainly on PC and the Nintendo systems; several Wii titles are in the works. Thanks to our newly gained Xbox 360 publisher status we are able to sharpen the image of our new release line-up for the purpose of successful international distribution.”

Germany’s Next Top Model for DS
This is probably the start of something fairly awful. According to this, dtp is releasing a DS game based on the TV show Germany’s Next Top Model. Apparently players use the stylus to pose, walk on the catwalk, and apply makeup. If it’s popular, you can expect local versions to pop up in every country on earth, so for God’s sake don’t buy it, German people.
