Square has released a new video for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, and it runs around the 10-minute mark. The 3DS title has Sora and Rikku as duel playable protagonists, and will feature familiar characters and locations from IPs such as Final Fantasy, Winnie the Pooh, Tron, Pinocchio, Notre Dame, Three Musketeers and more Square/Disney offerings. It launches March 29 in Japan, and is slated for release this year in Europe and the US. The video is posted below.

Junction Point boss Warren Spector will be the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC, organisers have announced. The ex-Ion Storm head, who created Deus Ex, Thief and System Shock at Looking Glass, will pick up the award at the Game Developers Choice Awards on March 7. GDC GM Meggan Scavio said Spector’s career to date “exemplifies the exact qualities that a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient should possess.”

Disney has announced a new Facebook game in the works at Playdom – Marvel: Avengers Alliance. Players recruit and train Marvel heroes and villains to build up a fighting force, and can even take custom characters to PvP matches. Individual characters can also be powered up with something called ISO-8, which probably costs money. Destructoid has a trailer and a pile of screens, so hit the link to check ‘em out.

The Internet has preserved what is purported to be a slab of text edited out of a recent Disney newsletter, outing Disney Epic Mickey 2.

Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure has been announced by Microsoft. Set for a March 20 release, the game, previously code-named “Rush”, brings five “beloved Pixar films to life like never before.” Players can team up with characters from: The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up!, Cars and Toy Story to “race against time and solve time-based challenges.” Watch the video of the game below. It’s rather adorable.

IndustryGamers reports Disney Interactive has snatched up former OnLive vice president for games and media John Spinale. Spinale will be in charge of Disney’s entire social effort, including Playdom, as head of social games. The industry veteran’s past roles includes gigs with Eidos and Activision.

Junction Head boss Warren Spector has teased the studio’s upcoming future projects, promising “surprises”.

In time for the release of the portable version of Cars 2, Sony has announced a new hardware bundle.

As detailed on the US PS Blog, the $159.99 bundle contains a a black PSP-3000, a 2 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, a copy of FIFA 2012 on UMD and a voucher to download Cars 2: The Video Game from the PlayStation Network.

The bundle will go on sale on November 15. The Avalanche-developed Cars 2 goes on sale a week earlier on November 8; it’s also available on DS, iOS, Mac, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Former Black Rock game director Nick Baynes has revealed to EDGE that the studio tried to “scale back” their AAA racing game Split Second to better fit Disney’s shift in focus away from AAA titles.
