Indie and other games of interest: Become a shark, hunt down vampires

There are a few tidbits of indie and other games of interest stuff past the break this week. One stand out, in our opinion, is Miami Shark, where you literally get to play as one of the giant fish. Awesome stuff.
Also, there’s the usual free stuff, sneak peeks and a barrage of other stuff you normally wouldn’t see during the week.

CDV to debut Serious Sam, new RPG, and hobnob with Marc Ecko at PAX 2009

CDV has announced that Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter will be shown at PAX 2009.
An new PC game from the firm will also be shown, and while CDV refused to name it, the mailer did call it a “high profile” game.
Also of note, is that designer Marc Ecko will be at the CDV booth on Saturday, September 5, signing limited-edition Ecko brand t-shirts created specifically for this year’s expo.
During the signings, several DS systems will be given away to commemorate Ecko’s collaboration in the development of CDV’s new puzzler, I Heart Geeks.
Fashion. Giveaways. Serious Sam. A new RPG.
Sounds like our kind of PAX booth.

Want Serious Sam HD on PS3? Tell Croteam

Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric has said that the firm may release Serious Sam on PS3 if enough people tell him it’s a good idea.
“We [have considered] doing PSN after we finish PC and XBLA,” he told G4.
“However, we keep hearing over and over from publishers, investors, marketing and other suits that players from one console, in this case PSN, wouldn’t want to get it later, let’s say eight months and seven days after, if it’s released sooner on the other console, here that would be XBLA. I would normally say that’s a lot of bull, but I will refrain here from my comment. What do your readers think?”
Ribaric said that the game is only planned for 360 and PC at the moment as Croteam couln’t find additional funding or a team willing to try the port in a short time-frame.
It’s out this autumn.

New Sacred 2 vid details combat, menus, running about

Ascaron’s released a new video of RPG Sacred 2, showing “in-game action from the Xbox 360 version of the game, featuring characters such as the High Elf and Temple Guardian in combat within the world of Ancaria.”
It’s lots of fighting and menus, essentially, and all looks very Titan Questy. We still mourn, you know.
After the break.

Sacred 2 to have legal game-sharing
CDV’s to allow people to access Sacred 2 for free via P2P sharing, the publisher’s announced, although play with be time-locked to a day before you’re supposed to pay for the game.
The code will be cracked, of course, but the publisher is simply hoping that people will reward it in return for allowing people to get the full client for nothing.
“Nothing is, of course, uncrackable in the world of video games,” CDV chap Mario Kroll told MTV.
“Our intention is not to build Fort Knox (and thus surely irritating paying, legitimate customers), but instead to offer a sensible sharing solution that works for publishers and gamers.”
“Surely there will be cracks and unlock solutions,” he continued, “but we’re hoping that by extending the spirit of sharing and trying to be really unobtrusive in our approach, that consumers will do the right thing and reciprocate by paying for a high-value, high-quality game.
“I think with this approach, if it can be proven a success story, it will encourage other publishers to follow suit, rewarding those consumers that are fed up with other, overly draconian copy protection schemes impacting their enjoyment of games they bought.”
More through there. Sacred 2′s out in the first quarter of next year.

“I controlled the production, and I’m happy with the game,” he added.
We have no thoughts on this. See it for yourself. It’s releasing for PC and 360 at an undisclosed date.
