After quietly and temporarily escaping custody last week, CD Projekt’s REDkit, a modding suite for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, has finally made its official debut.

Witcher modtools slip out into the wilds
CD Projekt had a bit of an accident this week and briefly released REDkit, its modding suite for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The friendly developer has advised that any of those lucky enough to snaffle the early release are welcome to go ahead and use them; the official release is almost upon us, thankfully. “Please give us just a little bit more time (it’s almost here!)” community manager Marcin Momot said.

Cyberpunk 2077 won’t rely on the pen and paper mechanics inherent in the Cyberpunk 2020 table top game it’s based on, because according to CD Projekt Red, mechanics such as those don’t work when translated into video games. In fact, such mechanics would make the game “super boring.”

Witcher 3 composer drawing on experience on Project Copernicus
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s soundtrack is being co-composed by audio lead Gene Rozenberg, who previously served a similar role on Project Copernicus, the 38 Studios MMO. In a video interview on GameInformer, Rozenberg describes the lessons he learned from the project – making sure the music offers enough variety; ensuring different pieces are in tone with each other; keeping music ambient where it needs to be; and making combat music reactive and adapative. You can also hear some samples and view some screenshots of Copernicus and The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is expected in 2014, on PC, PlayStation 4 and other unnamed consoles.

CD Projekt RED has relayed information on The Witcher 3′s storyline to Game Informer. We wont tell you too much of what we heard, in case you have not played The Witcher 2. Let’s just say Geralt is “looking for someone who has been missing in The Witcher 1 and 2,” and “the war” is still ongoing.
