Diablo 3 devs explain why you’ll probably die a lot
Diablo 3 as you know, will contain difficulty modes such as Normal, Nightmare, Hell and the newly added Inferno mode. To give you an idea of the difficulty these modes produce for the player, Blizzard has released a new video explaining the matter, but sadly never once mention just why they feel the need to be so sadistic. We’re joking, obviously. Some people like the challenge. Diablo 3 is slated for a Q2 release this year, which would put it on store shelves sometime between the end of March and May. ActiBlizz: Diablo 3 to launch Q2, new CoD “this year”
Activision Blizzard has released its full-year 2011 and Q4 financials, and has said to expect Diablo III during Q2 this year, which would place it somewhere between March and June, and a new entry in the Call of Duty franchise with “meaningful innovation” is expected this year.

Battleship gets a teaser trailer
Activision has released a teaser video for Battleship the video game, which was announced yesterday. In development at Double Helix Games, the seek-and-find adventure game contains a stand-alone story taken from Universal Pictures’ upcoming movie. The game will offer a combination of “strategic naval command” and first-person action. Battleship will release for PS3 and Xbox 360 in Europe and North America in May. 3DS, DS, and Wii versions from developer Magic Pockets are to be released with a date to be announced. Blizzard hands out 100,000 Diablo III beta invites in the US
Have you checked whether you have a Dibalo III beta key languishing in your inbox lately? If not, you may wish to check, because Blizzard has sent out 100,000 more invites in North America. So, if a lovely Battle.net notice hasn’t arrived, be sure to log into your account just in case. However, be careful as well, because Blizzard has said with this large wave of invites, there could be an increase in the number of phishing attempts – so be sure the notice you receive in the mail is indeed from Blizzard before clicking on any links. More invites after this round will be handed out in the future.

Modern Warfare 3 maps land on PS3 February 28 for premium Elite members
Activision has announced Premium Elite members will receive the first two Modern Warfare 3 content drops, Liberation and Piazza, on PS3 February 28. As previously announced for 360, Liberation contains a “militarized Central Park” in NYC providing the perfect landscape for long-range sniper and LMG kills. Piazza, which is set in a seaside village in Italy, contains blind corners and a “complex network of branching pathways” perfect for close-quarter combat. All content is available first to Premium Members on Xbox 360, but will be available to Premium Members on PS3 before non-premium members on their console.

Skylanders gets new characters, Empire of Ice pack
Activision’s launched two new characters for Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, as well as a new content pack called Empire of Ice. The new characters introduced are Cynder and Double Trouble. Cynder is a a dragon of the undead element whose “dark powers flow through her due to her difficult past,” although is said to be making amends. Double Trouble was previously a adept spellcaster, but now comes from the magic element. Another character coming is Slam Bam, a “yeti-abominable-snowman-looking guy,” who has yeti fists and ice prison attacks.
