PS4 could have anti-piracy measures after all, according to an unearthed patent from Sony. Although the filing was first submitted in August 2011, it has now gone live, and suggests that PS4 could measure a game’s load time to determine whether or not the game has been acquired illegally.

A new report from the Business Software Alliance says 57% of all PC owners admit to pirating software. The statistic is based on survey responses, and is being touted as a reason to crack down further on piracy. The report claims the $63.4 billion worth of software was pirated in 2011, a significant jump on 2010′s $58.8 billion, and that developing countries – notably China – are particularly keen on it. Young males are highlighted as the primary offenders. On the potentially bright side, those who pirate seem to own more software in general.

Sony has withdrawn Super Collapse 3 from sale on most regional PlayStation Stores. Polygon reports the PSP title was taken down within 24 hours of hacker group Wololo’s announcement of the game’s vulnerability to exploit. Although the group’s effort does not enable pirated games, it does allow for homebrew apps and games, something the Japanese Giant frowns on.
