Valve’s Skyrim mod adds a bit of Portal 2
One of the first mods to roll off the assembly line enabled by the recently-released Skyrim Creation Kit is a neat little effort by Valve, celebrating the modding community’s intended close relationship with Steam Workshop. The Fall of the Space Core, Vol. 1 adds the Space-loving Portal 2 core as a companion, and apparently also Nolan North.
Thanks, GameInformer.

GTA III mobile works with PC mods
Rockstar’s Android and iOS release of PS2 era classic Grand Theft Auto III is so faithful to the PC version that a number of existing mods can be used with it. You won’t need to jailbreak your device or anything like that, but head over to The Tech Erra or XDA Developers for iOS and Android users respectively to get a full walkthrough.
Thanks, games.on.net.

Skyrim mod brings online play to the PC
GameFront is reporting on a new in-development mod for the PC that would bring cooperative and online play to Skyrim. The mod will reportedly allow players to quest together, trade items, and chat with other players worldwide.
There’s no word yet on exactly how it works since the mod is still in production, however a video was released that you can view after the break. The video is extremely rough, but it does show basic character models playing and moving around together in Whiterun (though without animation.)

Video shows Skyrim being played with Kinect on PC
An industrious Skyrim modder has posted a video showing how the PC version of the game works with Kinect. As shown in the video below, using a Blootuth headset the voice control component of Kinect is used for shouts and menu navigation, and of course, the techs prerequisite arm-swinging will implement weapon and magic attacks. Links for how he implemented the tech are through the YouTube link here. Thanks, CVG.

Skyrim mod removes creeptastic spiders
Famously eschewed by arachnaphobes even before release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim contains too many eight-legged beasties for some tastes. Without the benefit of the full creation kit, one clever clog has cobbled together a crude mod that turns all those nasty spiders into much less disturbing bears.
You can grab the mod here; PC only, of course. Skyrim is available now on all three major platforms.
Thanks, Dan!
