The Sims 3: Island Paradise is out next month, and EA has released a video walkthrough for the expansion in which the producer introduces you to the sunny shores and glistening waters of Isla Paradiso. Sims can build and customize houseboats and resorts, and scuba dive to explore the ocean floor. The Sims 3: Island Paradise will be made available on June 25.

Guild Launch will be handing out thousands of closed beta keys for SOE’s Dragon’s Prophet MMO. Those interested in nabbing one, should head over now, as they are being handed out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Guilds, as I told you before, will be an important factor in Dragon’s Prophet due not only to the PvP, but the Frontier System in general. Guild Launch is the exclusive US host for the game’s beta keys so hurry and get one before they are all out. Dragon’s Prophet is slated for a Q2 release this year.

City Interactive has announced it has changed the name of its sci-fi, arcade-FPS Alien Fear – announced in 2012 – to Alien Rage. The game, which includes all sorts of weapons, firing modes, 21 enemy types and eight different bosses will be shown at E3 this year alongside its RPG Lords of the Fallen. Alien Rage will be available via digital distribution later this year for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. A teaser video is below.

Dust: An Elysian Tail will be released on Steam next week, according to developers Dean Dodrill and Alex Kain. The game has been available for Xbox Live for quite some time now, but come May 24, PC users will finally be able to play it. Hit up Steam for more information.

Ubisoft has stated that the Wii U version of Ghost Recon Online is still “on hold” as the team’s focus remains on the PC version. However, this doesn’t mean Ubisoft is committed to Nintendo’s Wii U console.

Trion Worlds has laid off as many as 100 employees, according to various sources on the net. Some say the lay-off count is as high as 80% – a percentage Trion states is “grossly exaggerated.”

The ancient Gree starship, Gray Secant, is returning to Ilum May 21-28, and will provide SWTOR players with some nifty rewards such as unique armor, pets, weapons, and the like. Players will earn Reputation points has they “fight the Gree’s grand mission,” and players level 45 and over can jump into the event before it returns at level 55 in the future. MLG’s StarCraft 2 WCS America Season 1 will culminate with the Regional Finals June 1 and June 2, and those at home will be able to watch the New York event live starting at 1pm Eastern online through Twitch.

Black Ops 2 players can earn double xp on weapon progression this weekend. The event starts today at 6pm GMT/10am PDT and runs through Monday until 6pm GMT/10am PDT on Monday. This corresponds with Uprising being available for PC and PS3. Go shoot something.

Infinite Crisis has revealed Gaslight Joker as its latest champion. The fella “butchers his opponents” with a bloody cleaver and swarms of rats who he hasn’t fed very well. SEGA has announced that Total War: Rome 2 is the fastest pre-ordered Total War game to date, with over six times the number of pre-orders its first official week compared to Shogun 2. The Collector’s Edition has also pre-ordered well, with over half the available copies already sold out in the US. The firm also said Total War sales hit 2 million last year “without a major release,” to support the series. Those who pre-order the strategy title get the first DLC, The Greek States Culture Pack, free on the day of release. Rome 2 is out September 3.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released on PC, according to Hideo Kojima speaking during his HideRadio podcast. Platinum Games creative producer Jean Pierre Kellams also confirmed the news on Twitter.
