Level-5 files US trademark for Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Level-5 have filed a trademark application with the USPTO for Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. This is the first indication we’ve heard of the game coming to the US, although there was never in any doubt it would head to the states eventually. Nintendo announced the game would be heading to Europe previously, and a trademark application for the US always seems to hit close to E3, according to Siliconera. Sounds like time for us to buy a 3DS, then.

Nigoro pushing La Mulana WiiWare release “to set an example”
La Mulana’s cancelled western WiiWare release may happen after all; writing on the game’s blog, developer Nigoro said it had received expressions of interest from multiple publishers, and wants to get the game out if it possibly can, both to please fans and “to set an example” for other Japanese indies. Nigoro expressed some frustration with the lack of interest and support from local press and publishers, and also asked western companies to “dig for gold” in the untapped vein of Japanese indies.

Rumour – FLCL game in the works for Wii U
Falling in both the “man says something on Internet” and “oh god yes please be true” ctageories is word that Namco Bandai has a FLCL (Fooly Cooly) game in the works for Wii U. The details come from the 2001 series’s IMDB page message boards, which is not exactly a rock solid source, but what the hey, I’ll trust anyone who offers the chance to steer Haruko’s signature Vespa. Local Namco Bandai representatives had no news to share.
Thanks, GoNintendo.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is not a “work for hire project,” says Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford
In a recent interview with Gamespot,Randy Pitchford explained how the team at Gearbox conceptualized its upcoming shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines, and how he will never forgive,” co-founder Brian Martel for not including him in a meeting held with Aliens creator Ridley Scott to go over storyboards. Elsewhere in the interview, which is posted in below, Pitchford touches upon the game’s asymmetrical competitive multiplayer, as well as the Wii U version of the game – which he seems really enthusiastic about. The interview is a little over 11 minutes long, but it’s well worth the watch. Aliens: Colonial Marines is slated for release in northern autumn, and an exact release date should be announced soon. Thanks, Edo.

Iron Maiden pack hits Rock Band 3 next week
Rock Band 3 players will be the recipients of some rather awesome DLC next week when Iron Maiden tracks invade PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. Called the Maiden Epics pack, tunes included in the DLC are: Phantom of the Opera, The Prisoner, The Flight of Icarus, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Infinite Dreams , and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Not a bad one in the bunch there, and I’m personally, really looking forward to channeling Bruce Dickinson in a venue other than drunken karaoke at a pub. The tracks land starting May 22, and you can get pricing and Pro information through the Rock Band Blog.
