District 9 director Neill Blomkamp regards collapse of Halo movie as the biggest stroke of luck in his career
District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp has cited the collapse of the Halo movie both he and Peter Jackson were set to collaborate on the biggest stroke of luck in his career. He has said that had the project not dissolved he wouldn’t have made District 9 and learned several life lessons along the way.

A video clip showing a 2007 pitch for a CGI Legend of Zelda film has turned up. It was created by the US end of Imagi Animation Studios, those behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Astro Boy films. Nintendo, apparently, declined the project. Sony has confirmed a Gran Turismo movie is in the works, but an SCE UK spokesperson said there isn’t any further information to be shared at this present time. It was reported yesterday that the movie would be helmed by The Social Network and Fifty Shades of Grey producers Michael de Luca and Dana Brunetti, but other than the film “being made” the rest of the details remain unconfirmed. The World of Warcraft movie was teased during Comic-Com today thanks to a short trailer shown off by Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. The film directed by Duncan Jones, is scheduled to start shooting in early 2014. The teaser was a live-action, CG mix and showed a Warrior roaming an empty desert with a shield on his back facing off with an Orc. The film will simply be titled Warcraft. Gameloading, a documentary film looking at the culture of indie games — more broadly than something like Indie Game: The Movie — has a Kickstarter going right at this moment, but as it’s a work already in progress the folks behind it have managed to release a five-minute teaser video today, which appears to simply be a clip from the movie filmed at GDC Play giving you an idea of what exactly it is. American McGee has confirmed to VG247 that negotiations for the Alice: Otherlands film rights are done, and that all Spicy Horse has to do now is raise the funds to buy them via Kickstarter. It the studio misses its window to buy the rights to make animated shorts based on the IP, the license will go back on sale.
