Deadline reports Sony Pictures will pony up a seven-digit amount to seal Taylor’s involvement in the project.

Spider-Man producer Avi Arad is also said to be on board.

Details are slim, but Sweet Tooth and Doll Face were both mentioned as likely to feature.

Twisted Metal release for PlayStation 3 in the US today, and arrives in Europe and associated territories on March 7. Sony promoted the reboot with a collection of live-action shorts giving the back story of some of the franchise’s iconic combatants.

Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker was announced in 2010 but has been largely under wraps since then. In a production Update video, embedded below, it’s revealed that the film is set in Orlais, a rival power to Ferelden visited briefly in Dragon Age: Origins DLC, and concerns the early adventures of Cassandra, a character seen in Dragon Age II’s frame narrative.

“In the Dragon Age universe we have been pursuing a story line, so when the question came up ‘who should this movie be about?’ and the answer became Cassandra, it’s because it ties in with the themes we’ve been building to,” BioWare’s Mike Laidlaw said.

“For us, finding out her back story, seeing how she rose to the prominence that she has, gives us this completely new take on what’s happening both with her order, and with the Templars, and with that ongoing conflict that ties the whole Dragon Age universe together.”

“It adds to the world. It expands the lore. it builds on things we’ve hinted at – and maybe even answers some questions.”

The fil is due on DVD and BluRay in northern spring.

A site source said there was “no reason” to suspect the project, which is due for a release alongside the movie this summer, had been canned.

It comes after IGDA analyst Kevin Dent said on Twitter on Sunday that the publisher had returned IP to Disney after paying an advance – with no refund.

This was in addition to the rumours that Warhammer 40k: Dark Millennium and the company’s entire 2014 lineup had been canned. That has since been denied by THQ.

The Brave title, which is still to be announced, will be the final game released under THQ’s current development deal with Pixar, according to Develop’s source, which was signed before it was picked up by Disney.

Rebooting our PS3, we found the movie streaming application under our TV/Video Service

The download for the program comes in at a mere 13Mb. There isn’t much there to go on besides it’ll arrive in the UK and Ireland soon.

Netflix announced it was to come over to the UK and Ireland back in October of last year for an “early 2012″ launch, but no confirmed launch date has been revealed.

It hadn’t actually announced particular console support for the UK and Ireland, but said it would be supported through “a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile tablets and phones.”

The service is also available for PS3, 360 and Wii owners in the US.

Partners confirmed so far for the UK and Ireland include the BBC, Lionsgate and MGM, to name a few.

The film follows video game developers as they create and release their games, and features familiar names such as Team Meat’s Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes, FEZ’s Phil Fish, and the story behind the creation of Jonathan Blow’s Braid.

Directed, produced, and created solely by James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot, Indie Game: The Movie follows the aforementioned developers as through the creative process, and find that “making fun and games is anything but fun and games.”

The two minute film briefly examines the events leading up to Gordon Freeman’s now famous introduction in Half-life.

“After 10+ years since it’s release, if you ever go back and replay the original Half-Life, it doesn’t look anything like you remember,” director Brioan Curtin noted.

“The graphics are horrible compared to present day games, but years ago it blew my mind. This video plays with that contrast.”

It’s only a few minutes long. Watch closely and you’ll spot a cameo from Portal and Half-life’s shared canon.

Graham King told ComingSoon.com that, while the first two movies starring Angelina Jolie “weren’t disasters,” the new film would take its lines from flicks like Casino Royale and Batman Begins.

“I find it interesting that the story that we’re telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece,” said King.

“It does have a lot of really great characters, but it’s a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it’s something very different. I’ve not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we’re going to give it a shot.”

The last movie based on Lady Croft was The Cradle of Life eight years ago.

The new movie is due in 2013, a year after Crystal Dynamics releases its reboot of the IP, in which we see a young Croft stranded on an island after being shipwrecked.

According to the report, John Rickard of Final Destination and A Nightmare on Elm Street fame is slated to produce, and is currently meeting with writers at the moment.

For those too young to remember Rampage, the game was a 1986 arcade favorite from Bally Midway, which had players stepping into the shoes of massive monsters destroying the city while trying to survive military interruptions.

The original game was eventually ported to Atari, Commodore 64, DOS, ZX Spectrum, NES, and Sega Master systems for home use. Subsequent versions of the franchise were developed and released over the years, with the most recent version, Rampage: Total Destruction, seeing a release on Wii, GameCube, DS and PS2.

New Line, which is owned by Warner Bros., is of the opinion that current technology has “advanced enough that the possibility exists” to make a “smartly budgeted” monster movie based on the game.

We have to say, we’re a bit curious to see how a movie based on a werewolf, lizard and a giant ape destroying a city would fare at the box office.

“We got very close to having it get made – we had a deal in place and a director. But for us there’s no burning [desire] to have a movie made just to get it made,” Levine told IndustryGamers on the status of the movie.

A BioShock movie has been in the pipeline since 2008, when Take Two announced that Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski was brought on to direct. Since then, Verbinski has left, and has been replaced by 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadilo.

The last update on the movie from Levine was in May, in which the Irrational boss said “unless all the right pieces are in place,” a feature was not going to be made.

He’s still for a movie being made, but that there isn’t any hurry.

“For us and for Take-Two, it’s really got to be something that will give the fans something that they want, and, for those who don’t know BioShock, really introduce them to something that is consistent with the game,” said Levine.

“There are differences between games and movies, no doubt, but the movie has to draw from the same DNA in terms of the world and the story beats,” he said.

“They want to be able to pull the plug on the whole movie’s development if they decide to. It’s ridiculous.”

“As a director, even Steven Spielberg cannot get this kind of deal.”

Speaking to NY Mag, anonymous studio executives and insiders express doubts over Ubisoft’s insistence on creative control.

The UK and Ireland will be the first two countries in Europe to have the service.

The company said it will be supported “via a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile tablets and phones,” although details on supported devices haven’t been confirmed other than they will be “closer to launch.”

Netflix is currently available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo 3DS in the US, where users are currently able to stream “unlimited” movies and TV shows.

The only other similar service of note is LoveFilm, which is currently only available to PS3 owners in the UK. It will be coming to Xbox 360 owners in the fall update, though.

The next Assassin’s Creed game is Revelations, which releases on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in mid-November, and ties up a number of loose story threads. The following instalment, expected in 2012, is said to complete the story of meta-protagonist Desmond, giving any potential film adaptation a complete plot to work from.

Negotiations have entered final stages, following a bidding war for the film rights that’s been going on for the past couple months between various studios, including Sony and Universal.

Through Ubisoft’s Motion Pictures division, which it launched last year, the publisher will keep creative control of the movie, a “key” point while talking with Sony, according to Variety.

Sony Pictures has refused to comment, but Ubisoft’s said it had “no specific news to share at this time.”

The next big installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which first started in 2007, launches on November 18 with Revelations on PS3 and 360.

As scanned by Halo.fr and translated by HBO (via GAF), the movie is set to be coming from Dreamworks, the company Spielberg helped set up in 1994.

The press pack reads: “A film adaptation is set in 2012. It will be conducted jointly by two heavyweights of American cinema: Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks.”

This isn’t the first time Dreamworks and Spielberg have been mentioned together in regards to a Halo film. Last time it was brought up was back in October last year.

A Halo movie has been on and off since it was first announced in 2006. Initially, Peter Jackson, Enslaved and 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland and District 9 director Neill Blomkamp were all tied to the movie.

In terms of monetary breakdown, $0.79 went to the physical sector and $0.21 towards digital content.

The firm called this “a noticeable shift towards digital acquisition,” compared to 2009 when $0.85 was spent on physical content and $0.15 on digital.

“Kids are not skittish to use technology that is available to them, and the convenience and instant gratification afforded by downloading content is alluring to them,” said NPD’s Anita Frazier.

“The ease and short downloading times associated with music downloads means that this is often the gateway activity to downloading for kids, but the large increase in digital games acquisition over the last two years points to how this is becoming a more mainstream way of acquisition across all types of entertainment content.”

Music downloads made up 14 percent of digital downloads, and while lower in percentage compared with games, music took the top spot with 72 percent followed by movies, which made up 13 percent of digital downloads in the age group. Overall, games came third on the list.

NPD also concluded that around 50 percent of children studied paid for their first digital content by 7-years-old, and one-third of those downloads were music, followed by PC and mobile games, respectively.

The LA Times reports the new film is a partnership between two Warner Bros labels – New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Kevin Tancharoen, whose leaked fan-film trailer netted him an official commission to produce the promotional web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, will direct the new movie.

The script is to be written by Tancheroen’s offsider Oren Uziel and expected to release in tandem with a new Mortal Kombat game in 2013.

“The new game and the online shorts prompted us to consider a reboot of a brand we hadn’t been actively thinking about,” New Line president Toby Emmerich said.

New Line was involved in the production of two Mortal Kombat films in the mid to late 90′s, but efforts to reboot the franchise before now had been stymied by ongoing litigation with producer Lawrence Kasanoff.
