Sony has published its third ‘Deal of Christmas’ on PSN, this time discounting F1 2013 on PS3 and Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection on PS Vita. There’s also more movie rental deals.

Sony Pictures has registered thelastofusmovie.net, which naturally has sparked speculation that a film adaptation of the already strongly cinematic PlayStation 3 exclusive is on the way. Try not to get too excited; it may just be a defensive purchase. There have been no whispers suggesting such a thing is on the way, but these things can move fast when they get started; the Need for Speed film seems to have rocketed into existence.

The Warcraft movie has been pushed back a couple of months from December 18, 2015 to March 11, 2016, according to a Variety report. It’s one of a couple of changes Universal and Legendary have made to their release schedule, and no explanation was given – but speculation blames the new Star Wars movie, which opens on Warcraft’s original release date. We got our first story details on the Duncan Jones-directed film at Blizzcon 2013.

GamesAid and Warner Bros. have teamed up to offer a special screening of KIng of Kong, the documentary on Steve Wiebe’s attempt to take the Donkey Kong record, in the Warner Bros. London preview cinema, on December 6 at 6:30PM. Tickets are available from Eventbrite for £12, with sales to benefit charity GamesAid.

Need for Speed isn’t the most likely property to become a movie, and the production seems to have been pushed through remarkably quickly, but this new trailer for the 2014 film isn’t so disgustingly bad you want to stick nails through your own face, and in the foetid world of video game films we call that progress.

Back in September there was a rumor that Colin Farrell may star in the Warcraft movie being directed by Moon’s Duncan Jones. Farrell recently spoke with IGN and neither confirmed nor denied he would be starring in the Blizzard vehicle.

Distributor Fox has announced the Assassin’s Creed movie has been pushed back from June 9, 2015 to August 7, 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is being developed by Ubisoft and New Regency, and looks set to star Michael Fassbender. We had expected it as early as this year, but it went through a rewrite; Ubisoft is quite protective of this one.

Warner Bros. is working to bring endless runner Temple Run to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is in negotiations with Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and plans for a story of demonic forces on the tail of an idol thief. Imangi Studios’ casual app is one of the most popular games on the App Store, and has produced a sequel as well as licensed spin-off Oz the Great and Powerful.

Kane & Lynch was going to get the movie treatment many moons ago, with Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx in the lead roles. It never happened, obviously. Now, Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel are said to be in talks with Hollywood to make it happen.

Today I learned there is a computer-animated Heavenly Sword movie — based on the story in the game — that stars Anna Torv (from Fringe and also the Heavenly Sword game), Alfred Molina (from everything) and Thomas Jane (The Mist). The trailer is below.

Kevin Tancharoen, creator and director Mortal Kombat Legacy, is no longer slated to direct the Mortal Kombat film which has been in the works since 2011. Taking to Twitter, Tancharoen stated: “After 3 years of Kombat, I’ve decided to move on to other creative opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!” Last we heard, the film’s budget was set at $40 million with the plot revolving around a supermarket employee who discovers he has super powers. Via Ain’t It Cool. Thanks, rumrod.
