Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold 1 million units
Mojang has announced Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold over one million units for Android. The title, which was released in August on the Xperia phone before moving on to other Andriod platforms and iOS in September, had sold 700,000 units as of January. From then until present, the game sold an additional 300,000 units. The game is currently priced at $6.99 and the latest update was released around Valentine’s Day.

Splinter Cell: Conviction released for Windows Phone 7
A mobile version of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction has released on Windows Phone 7, according to AnythingButiPhone. It features gameplay mechanics from its console and PC brother, such as “mark and execute”. An iOS version was released in 2010. Conviction original hit 360 and PC in June 2010.

Ex-Disney game studios boss co-founds Industrial Toys
Ex-Disney Interactive Studios head and Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian, alongside ex-Dreamworks VP Brent Pease and president Tim Harris, has set up a new mobile studio known as Industrial Toys. The company, which will “kickass art talent from ex-Marvel and DC,” will aim on making core games for the mobile market.

Japanese social games firm GREE sets up shop in San Francisco
GREE is setting up shop in San Francisco in order to facilitate the launch of its global platform during Q4 this year. The Japanese network operator, and social and mobile game developer, plans to use the time before launch to build relationships with local developers and publishers. Titles are to be offered through the firm’s existing service, along with that of OpenFeint – its most recent acquisition – and the first two will go live next month. It’s Japanese service boasts 190 million registered users, and it expects to its fiscal year-end sale to reach $2.1-$2.5 billion. Currently, the service offers over 7,500 games from more than 20,000 partners, and has its own internal development studio. Monster Hunter card battle game hitting Japanese smart phones February 21
Capcom has announced it will release Monster Hunter With Everyone: Card Master, known as Minna to Monhan Card Master in Japan, via DeNA’s Mobage mobile social gaming platform. Pre-registrations started today for the card battle game developed by Gloops. Each card is based off characters and monsters from the Monster Hunter series, and it allows players to form guilds, gather cards, and battle other guilds.
