Sony has announced it will launch the PlayStation Store for PlayStation Mobile in nine new countries starting December 18. This brings the PS Store to mobile users in total to 18 countries including Japan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, as well as in newly added countries including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and New Zealand. Prior to the PS Store expansion, Sony will offer the PSM Developer Program which includes distribution of the official PSM SDK in the newly added countries starting December 5.

The Android and iOS version of FIFA 14 has been downloaded 26 million times, according to EA. It’s coming to Windows Phone soon, too. The mobile version is free-to-play, and EA has not given any details of how it’s performing financially, but it topped the App Store’s free games chart in 148 countries, and charted in the top ten grossing iPhone games in 155 countries.

Puzzle & Dragons has been downloaded 2 million times in North America, GungHo Online Entertainment has announced. The game has been downloaded over 21 million times combined in Japan and Korea. GungHo plans to release Puzzle & Dragons Z on 3DS in Japan this fall, and there are plans to release it in the west at some point as well. Last week, the firm reported its financials for the quarter, noting a decrease in revenue and profits by 55 and 12%, respectively. Thanks, Siliconera.

Knack’s companion app is now available as a free download on iOS. Knack’s Quest is a puzzle game tasking the player with collecting three or more matching parts for the mechanical beast. The more you collect, the larger Knack becomes – you much reach his size limit and complete the stage before time run outs. Wargaming is entering the mobile space by funding a new Seattle-based studio headed up by Z2 founder David Bluhm. “We think mobile games is still a relatively new space with massive upside,” Bluhm told VentureBeat regarding the as-of-yet unnamed studio. “Mobile is ripe for innovative and new core game mechanics.” The studio also includes former Blue Manchu and EA PopCap’s Joe McDonagh and other former Z2 staffers. Thanks in no small part to mobile phenomenon Puzzles & Dragons, GungHo has a pretty absurd operating profit margin — 57 percent or so this past quarter. But with revenue and profits down 5 percent and 12 percent, respectively, quarter over quarter, the companies price fell sharply this week.
