Titanfall unlikely to feature cross-platform play

Bullet Run being shut down in March by Acony and SOE

SOE has announced it will be shutting down its free-to-play multiplayer FPS Bullet Run. In the game, players were pitted against each other in a reality TV show setting where performance is everything. In a statement on the game’s forum, the community manager said Acony Games and SOE have “mutually made the decision to discontinue development.” The game, its servers, and foums will shut down on March 8. Defiance dated, live-action trailer released

Defiance will release on April 2, Trion has announced alongside the release of a new live-action trailer. The second beta weekend for the MMO shotter kicks off next weekend. The game will be made available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and the events in the game on via the Syfy series debuting on April 15 will blend together with events in both affecting each other.

Survarium beta planned for the end of the year

Survarium, the free-to-play MMOFPS from former Stalker developers Vostok Games, will go into beta at the end of the year. The firm noted on its website it plans to “open beta game access to a larger number of players,” and it will likely be an open beta. In the case of a “huge influx of new players,” the developers said it could “temporarily hold up the admission of new players to ensure increased server capacities.” You can view the development timeline here. An alpha test containing a working PvP mode, four game maps, two factions, and an in-game system of tasks, is slated for Q2 2013.

When he’s not relishing the ban of “scumbag” cheaters in PlanetSide 2, SOE CEO John Smedley is teasing new weapons for the recently launched MMOFPS. According to tweets from the man himself, “new sniper and carbines” will be introduced in the game “tomorrow,” December 6. The following week, players can expect “new anti-vehicle weapon,” including “anti-air you rocket pod haters.” Smedley promised the everything will be “balanced” for those who tend to worry about such things.

Firefall Europen servers added for this weekend’s beta event

European servers have been added to Firefall in anticipation of this weekend’s beta test. Last week, Red 5 Studios performed a dark launch for the servers, and found them to be stable enough to put live this weekend as part a stress test. While there will still be a few “kinks,” the firm said the addition should result in less lag for those on the continent. The MMO first-person shooter is set for a PC release in 2013.
