Rumor – IE coming to 360 with Kinect controls
A source close to The Verge has told the site Microsoft is bringing Internet Explorer to Xbox 360 with Kinect capabilities. The firm is supposedly testing IE 9 on the console now, and upon release it will have Bing voice search integrated for media-only results, while the browser end will allow users to surf the net while sitting in their living areas. Kinect support won’t be mandatory, according to the source, but since Kinect has been heavily integrated into it, users may wish to at least try it out. If true, and not far-fetched in the slightest, look for Microsoft to reveal the tech at E3.

Kinect used to help diagnose autism in children
Another day, another amazing use for Kinect which has almost nothing to do with games. According to a report in New Scientist, Microsoft’s motion control tech is being used at the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development, to help identify early signs of autism in young children. Five Kinects places around the room feed into one processing unit, which keeps track of a room full of kiddies and looks for those showing behaviour which deviates from the average activity level of the room. Wow. It is okay to be frightened.
Thanks, Eurogamer.
