Blitz Games Studios has laid off as many as 175 staff members and has ceased trading as of this morning, the firm has announced. In the wake of the troubles, two former senior Blitz Games Studios developers have opened a new studio in Leamington Spa.

Blizzard as removed job listings for Project Titan from its career page. While not really a surprise, it further proves Blizzard’s intent to revamp the game once thought to be the next, big MMO from the team. Activision-Blizzard announced during its last call to investors that due to the revamp of the project, some of the team members would be moved over to other titles in the works with a more immediate release in sight while a “new direction” was decided for Project Titan. Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime said at the time the company had gone through this “type of iterative process several times in the past,” and the team remains committed to the project’s quality. He also said the project would “likely not be a sub-based MMORPG.” Thanks, Massively.
