RuneScape 3 announced, launching this summer

runescape-feb

RuneScape 3 has been announced by Jagex, and according to Massively, it seems to be building on RuneScape 2 instead of being released as something entirely new. Players will be able to log into the game with existing accounts, keep their avatars, and will run a bit faster thanks to its HTML5 engine and web GL. Players will still be able to play using Java if they wish. More information is expected in the coming weeks. A video announcing RuneScape 3 is below. It’s out something this summer.

Jagex has confirmed plans to launch a 2007-era build server for browser-based MMO RuneScape. In an announcement post, the publisher said voting slowed after 100,000 signatures, and it’s still not sure whether the server will be free or premium. Vote in the poll, if you fancy a bit of old school gaming.

Runescape offers chance to play 2007-era release

20120124runescape

Jagex has dug up a perfect build of Runescape dating back to 2007. As a result, the developer is considering launching an “old school” server devoted to the outdated version, allowing players to relieve their nostalgia-riddled memories. Since maintaining the older build would be a lot of work., Jagex has promise to hire a new, dedicated team to manage it – if the community demonstrates enough support. Voilà: a voting portal will open on February 15. More information is available on the MMO’s blog.

Thanks, Massively.
