Space Nomads alpha footage fends off an alien assault
The two-person team at Montreal indie Loading Studios is hard at work on Space Nomads, a first-person tower defence game. What sets this one apart from the rapidly-expanding ranks of this one-time niche genre is that it’s co-operative and procedurally generated – oh, and the sweet retro sci-fi aesthetic. A new alpha gameplay video is available through the break, showing off the latest build, and Loading has asked for feedback via its forums.

Rymdkapsel takes the complication out of RTS
Rymdkapsel, a highly unusual RTS effort for Vita and PS Mobile certified devices, is headed to the PlayStation Store for $5 later this month. It’s a base-building affair which boasts of being extremely minimalist, and from the sounds of it, this extends to mechanics as well as the simple, colourful graphics. XCOM: Enemy Unknown available for Mac, Steam release uncertain
XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been released on Mac directly from porting studio Feral Interactive. However, the game can only be bought direct from the developer or via the Mac App Store, as a Steam release still hangs in the balance.

Crusader Kings 2 gets first The Old Gods developer diary
Crusader Kings 2: The Old Gods is the fourth expansion for the strategy title. The first in a three-part series, the video features project lead Henrik Fåhraeus explaining the prominence of pagans in one of “Europe’s darkest and most brutal periods.” The Old Gods releases on Mac and PC May 28, and players can choose to rule as a Pagan or Zoroastrian, and it also focuses on “the dreaded Vikings and their tradition of pillage and adventure.”
