Hirō Isono, and artist and painter responsible for the lovely look of the Secret of Mana series, passed away on May 28 due to heart failure. Born in 1945, Isono graduated from the Aichi University of Education’s fine arts department in 1968, and worked as an illustrator and painter since the 1970s. In 1991, he provided the main visual for Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden, worked on the aforementioned Secret of Mana series and Heroes of Mana in 2007. The latets YS game to head west courtesy of the diligent team at XSEED is Ys: Memories of Celceta. The Vita RPG drops in September, and tells a familiar JRPG story of a young amnesiac man searching for his identity. This one’s all set in a spooky forest, though, which is pretty rad. gaze upon the pure Nihon Falcom goodess in the E3 2013 trailer within.
