DiRT Showdown PC demo now available

The PC demo for DiRT Showdown is now available on Steam. The taster includes one single-player race, 8-ball, which takes players through San Francisco and across the Golden Gate bridge. If you challenge a friend, you’ll also be able try out the eight-player Rampage mode. The demo supports RaceNet, Codemasters’ answer to Autolog, and signing up nets you $20,000 of in-game currency when the game launches. You can also grab the demo from the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live Arcade. DiRT Showdown launches on May 25.

You can reach out and slap other players in LBP Karting

Some screenshots of United Front Games’ LittleBigPlanet Karting are posted below courtesy of AGB. Also, Polygon has some gameplay details for you: the LBP grappling hook mechanic returns; a hover chassis is implemented on the cars; it contains quests such as finding hidden items, hide n’ go seek, and waypoint races; it has an eight-player battle area; asynchronous multiplayer for user-made tracks is included; and an expanded Pod will allow players to travel between modes and perform various customization options. You can also turn any in-game object into a weapon or paint one into the game as well as reach out and slap other players in order to stun them. Sounds fun. Game’s out in October on PS3.

Trials-like Urban Trials coming to PlayStation Vita

Tate Interactive has unveiled Urban Trials, a game similar in vein to – hold it – RedLynx’s Trials games. The racer will feature a Trials motorbike with advanced physics model, as well as the abilities to challenge ghost times of your friends, customise your bike and more. 20 in-game levels will be included, as will the ability to take in-game screens and share them. Codemasters has released a demo for DiRT Showdown on all major platforms. The demo contains single-player content, the race of 8 Ball in San Francisco, multiplayer mode Rampage and the RaceNet beta. Watch Sam play the Xbox 360 demo below. The game launches May 25 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

DiRT Showdown demo pops up on Xbox Live Marketplace

Codemasters has gone live with the DiRT Showdown demo on Xbox Live Marketplace. The taster will give players a mix of single-player content with a race of 8 Ball in San Francisco and multiplayer mode Rampage, as well as the beta of new racing service RaceNet. Get the demo queued here. It comes in at 1.16Gb.

It’ll go live on US PSN and PC later on today, with EU PSN getting it tomorrow.

New SSX trailer shows off Mt. Eddie and Tricky

EA’s released a brand new trailer and pile of screens for SSX and it gives you a sneak peak of one of the game’s upcoming content drops – The SSX Mt. Eddie & Classic Characters DLC pack. The trailer shows some of the classic characters which’re part of the pack as well as giving you a closer look at Mt. Eddie – a tricky inspired, ultra-long mountain which features 9 new races and trick drops. It’ll also come with three classic SSX music tracks. RedLynx: 100,000 players flood Trials Evolution servers, posts highest grossing XBLA day-one sales

At least 100,000 players were attempting to access Trials Evolution’s online servers at launch on Wednesday, developer RedLynx has said. That resulted in issues regarding multiplayer ranks and leaderboards. Its said in a tweet, however, that Microsoft has added new hardware that fixes the problems. Trials Evolution, according to Microsoft, has set a record for the highest grossing day-one sales in Xbox Live Arcade history. No figures were provided.

This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, mind: the game is pretty much amazing. Watch why here.

MotorStorm and Hot Shots Tennis available once again on the PS Store

Sony’s announced MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and Hot Shots Tennis: Get A Grip are once again available for download on the PS Store now that alterations have been made to deter hackers. In late March, Sony pulled Hot Shots Tennis from the PS Store due an exploit which would allow the use of a homebrew loader on Vita. MotorStorm: Arctic Edge was pulled from the store for the same reason in February. Hopefully, all is fixed proper now. Via Engadget.

Sony will release the standalone GT Academy 2012 demo for participants in this year’s competition on May 2. There’s no word on what content will be included into the taster, such as what car or track, though.
