Sneak peek beta videos show TERA’s Lancer and Sorcerer in action

Videos from the sneak peek beta of TERA have started surfacing on the net thanks to those who are participating in the tester. Below the break, you will find in-game videos of the melee-focused Lancer and the range-focused Sorcerer classes, courtesy of UniLost.com. A sneak peek beta is currently going on now, and the first of five closed beta tests start February 17 run every weekend until April 15. The open beta starts on April 19 and the game releases in May. SWTOR weekly Q&A details Legacy changes, future content

Bioware has posted its first weekly developer Q&A over on the SWTOR forums, and in it, the firm addresses questions regarding upcoming content, and fixes currently in the works. According to the post, patch 1.2 will bring about the first rewards to the Legacy System, and will allow players to combine races and classes. More enhancements for the system are planned for future updates. Also, the next major addition to the MMO will add the Hue to Chest feature, social armor for Medium and Heavy wearers, guild banks, and a new same-faction Warzone. Screenshots released to celebrate launch of Guild Wars’ Winds of Change: Part Three

ArenaNet has released a small batch of screenhots to celebrate today’s launch of Winds of Change: Part Three. Part of the Guild Wars Beyond series of storylines and events, the content helps bridge the storyline between the original game and Guild Wars 2, which takes place 250 years in the future. Beyond started off with War in Kryta, and then saw the release of Hearts of the North. The story continued with Winds of Change, and part three is the conclusion of the series. Guild Wars 2 will go into public beta this spring and will launch later this year.

Trion to release RIFT in China

Trion Worlds and Chinese Internet firm Shanda Games have entered into an agreement which will see the release of RIFT in China. Shanda will hold the exclusive license for RIFT localized in Mandarin, a deal which Trion CEO Lars Buttler called “a huge step for Western premium games in China.” Trion’s expansion to Asia follows the firm’s recent $85 million round of equity financing, which will also help the firm along as it develops its consumer platform and full-scale publishing and development platform Red Door, later this year. The release of RIFT in Mainland China will be announced at a later date.

City of Heroes adds new missions to Spring Fling line-up

NCSoft has detailed its Spring Fling plans for City of Heroes. On top of the three traditional Spring Fling co-op missions , characters of level 30 or above can take on a quest involving the Red Widow to score the Widow Maker badge, while level 20 and above can access Valentines, which awards players with the Match Maker or Missed Connection badges, and grants one of two temporary abilities, Arrows of Romance and Arrows of Jealousy. The fun kicked off this morning in the US and runs through February 27.

Lineage II’s concurrent player-base has increased 800% since going F2P

NCsoft has revealed some rather nice figures for Lineage II, which changed over from a subscription-based MMO to free-to-play back in November. According to the firm (via MMORPG), the concurrent player-base in the game has increased 800%, more than 250,000 players have used the “Path to Awakening service” the web-based system which rewards player for game progression and provides free items tofolks level up faster. The firm has had to more than double the number of servers to accommodate the new players, and even better, revenue for NCsoft has “quadrupled” in the last two months. Fans have also “liked” the game’s Facebook page more than 280,000 times and the game’s forums are hopping. Good to hear!

Mythic announces the return of Night of Murder event in Warhammer Online

Mythic has announced the Night of Murder event has returned to Warhammer Online, and those who participate will receive event credit by completing tome tasks such as the “Marked for Death” quest given out by Witch Elves and Witch Hunters. The quest givers are located in every warcamp, scenario, and capital city. Members of enemy realms and NPCs who have been “marked for death” will need to be killed in order to earn rewards such as: Butcher’s Blessing, Khaine’s Caress, or Lobbin’ Noggin and Burning Blood Potion. The Night of Murder event starts tonight and runs through February 22.

SWTOR players reporting issues with PvP since update 1.1.2

SWTOR players have reported issues with the PVP planet Ilum since update 1.1.2 was released, citing kills not being registered, this daily and weekly quest requirements not being met. At lot of folks who have leveled in the game are participating in PvP until new content is released, and have posted the issue on the official forum. Bioware’s Joveth Gonzalez has responded to users, stating that the development team “has been investigating the cause” and are “closer to figuring out a solution.” The firm promised to keep players update as more information is known. Valentine Massacre Event nets you punky-pink guns in APB

GamersFirst has announced that for a limited time, it will be hosting a Valentine’s Day massacre event in APB Reloaded. Those who log into the game will be sent Valentine-inspired weapons with “an exciting new modification,” with pink and white decor complete with hearts. Killing in-game folks with these special weapons will advance two new roles and and provide new theme music, art, and heart-shaped sunglasses. Nifty. It all starts today and runs through February 20.
