Noted in the firm’s financial report for Q4 and the fiscal year ending October 31, 2011, Majesco CEO Jesse Sutton said the original Zumba Fitness moved 4 million units during its first 12 months at retail, and was the number one fitness title of the year in the US and UK.

Zumba Fitness 2, meanwhile, has sold over 1 million units worldwide since it launched in November 2011.

Majesco’s Q4 revenue came in at $25.1 million, which is up 8% year-over-year, with yearly revenue for 2011 up 65% to $125.3 million.

The original Zumba Fitness has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide since its November 2010 launch.

The package will include a black Balance Board, and a copy of Wii Fit Plus. As usual for the UK, Nintendo’s yet to reveal pricing, but a listing over at Zavvi suggests it’ll be sold for around £75.

Nintendo first launched the Wii Fit expansion back in November 2009, and the standard white balance board sells for around £65.

Ono explained how both the franchises are so very different from each other and how that enabled them to come up with something as crazy as the Pandora mode without it feeling tacked on.

“I think Tekken players have always been more accustomed to spending the last bit of a round doing a big combo rush and beating the crap out of the other guy,” he says, “Whereas Street Fighter guys have always been suited to a Super Combo style system.”

Rather than leaving both character types completely separate, Ono’s team decided to find a happy compromise – and that, in the end, became the Pandora system.

Gamesradar reports WWE 12′s cast was unveiled at official community event Summerslam Fan Axxess over the weekend.

One more in-game wrestler remains unnamed, with a reveal promised soon, and 13 more due via DLC post launch.

The line-up allows for a legendary grudge match – John Cena versus The Rock – as shown in the trailer below. THQ is asking fans to vote on which of these titans should appear on the collector’s edition.

Although the game based on the international dance fitness craze is available on PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360, Zumba Fitness 2 has at this stage only been announced for the Wii.

Majesco hasn’t commented on how many units of the original sold on each platform, but is apparently planning another non-Wii release in the future.

Zumba Fitness 2 will introduce a Progress mode to help you track your work outs, and allow for customised training regimes.

Zumba founder Beto, Tanya Beardsley and Gina Grant are on board the sequel, which will sport 30 new dance tracks from Nicole Scherzinger, Yolanda Be Cool & DCup, Pitbull, and more.

The first public demos of Just Dance 3 and Rabbids: Alive & Kicking will be shown, and Ubisoft will also demo Rayman Origins, and host an exclusive panel for Assassin’s Creed Revelations on July 23, 2011.

Ubisoft’s booth will feature “a special stage for consumers to get down with Just Dance 3,” as well as the demo of the mini games available in Rabbids: Alive & Kicking and Rayman Origins. Fans can also win a free T-shirt by checking in on Facebook at the Rayman Origins billboard at 6th Avenue & F Street, in the Gaslamp quarter, and then claim their prize at Ubisoft’s booth.

Other prizes will be given away at the booth, including special pre-order discounts and incentives on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Just Dance 3 releases.

In addition to Ubisoft’s booth, Ubisoft is teaming with Break Media and Zachary Levi’s The Nerd Machine to build out a “Nerd HQ” in downtown San Diego, from July 21-24. At the “Nerd HQ,” fans will gather to celebrate nerd culture and will have the chance to play Rayman Origins.

Finally, on Saturday, July 23, from 3–4 p.m. in Room 25ABC, the writers behind Assassin’s Creed Revelations will discuss and answer questions about the thrilling fourth installment in the critically acclaimed entertainment franchise during the “Assassin’s Creed: The Creation of a Universe” panel.

“Attendees will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how Ezio’s final journey will unfold as he walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altair, on a perilous journey of doubt and discovery,” reads the press release. “Additionally, attendees will get to watch an exclusive preview of the animated short film Assassin’s Creed Embers. Panelists will include the creators of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations game, animated short film and comic. Adam Sessler, host of G4TV’s X-Play, will moderate the panel.”

Apparently, not only was Skarlet missing from the DLC, but the Klassic Skin Pack was also priced incorrectly on the PS Store at £5.49/€6.99.

“Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, the Mortal Kombat Skarlet DLC will not be available to PSN users in Europe until next week,” Warner told Eurogamer. “We apologise for any inconvenience but assure fans that Skarlet and her fatalities are on the way.

“To clarify the posted price of the Classic Skins pack on PSN is incorrect and is currently being rectified to £3.19 for UK users and €3.99 for European users.

“All users will have access to the compatibility pack and free classic skins – Cyrax and Sektor – once Skarlet is available.”

The DLC for Mortal Kombat released on the US PS Store Tuesday without incident.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Ono said that if the Xbox 360 version is to get its own Cole MacGrath exclusivity, Microsoft would have to wine and dine the producer. Of course, this was said in a joking manner.

“Sony called us up and wined and dined us,” Ono said, jokingly. “Just Starbucks, but I’m a big coffee fan so watching those beans get ground up really tugged at my heartstrings.

“Let me rewind, Microsoft just took me to Starbucks. Sony ground the beans for me. That’s the difference.

“When we first started talking to SCEA about the Vita version and ways we could link that up to the PS3 version the conversation naturally drifted toward what else we could that’s very PlayStation-ey, very specific to those platforms. So we started thinking of characters we could cross over.

“We settled on Cole fairly early because he’s a character that fits the Street Fighter universe. He doesn’t seem out of place. He has electrical moves. We already have Blanka, so we know in this universe it’s not unusual for people to have electrical powers. And we think his fighting style measures pretty well with Tekken, as well.

“He won’t feel like a shoehorned in guest character. Of course, from infamous 2 onward, it looks like Cole can use weapons now, so we’re not sure how fair that would be in a Street Fighter fight. We’ll see.”

Ono announced during Sony’s E3 press conference that Cole would be exclusive to the PS3 and Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken, and showed off an early demo of the character in action. Ono also hinted after the presentation to Eurogamer that he is looking at other guest appearances as well.

Street Fighte X Tekken is out next year on PS3, Vita, and Xbox 360.

The article, published on the National Post’s website, stated that:

“A Canadian-led study has offered up a new clue to the country’s obesity epidemic, suggesting that video-game use is not just a rampant and sedentary replacement for physical exertion, but actually compels players to eat more — even when they are not hungry.”

Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput, lead author of the study, reported that the teenage subjects spent an hour sitting in a comfortable chair and then, on another occasion, an hour playing a videogame. After the hour spent gaming, participants consumed an average of 80 calories more at a pasta lunch.

“Surveys filled out by the 22 young men who participated in the study showed the gamers consumed an average of 163 more calories through the day,” the Post’s article continued. “Blood tests for appetite-related hormone levels showed no evidence that game playing had actually made them hungrier, however.”

Dr. Chaput hypothesised that the impact in a ‘real-life’ setting was actually much greater than the 80 calories established by his study “since in a real-life setting gamers often play with others and eat while they play — both factors that would encourage food intake,” the Post postulated.

Later in the article, other “sedentary activities”, such as watching TV and working at a computer were also mentioned, and the initial point expanded upon by Dr. Sharma, chair of obesity research at the University of Alberta:

“There is this widespread misconception that obesity results largely from people being physically inactive, not burning calories,” said Dr. Sharma. “Canadians are not getting fat because they’re lazy. They’re getting fat because they don’t have time and because they’re stressed out, they’re working too much … they never shut off.”

Dr Chatput has stated that he would like to look next at “a new generation of games, such as the Nintendo Wii, that actually require physical exertion that mimics the characters on screen, to see whether they trigger the same over-eating effect.” He warned that if they do, any health-boosting benefit of those games could be offset by the resulting compulsion to eat.

Wii’s first UFC title is a fitness-based experience from THQ, designed with help from leading MMA training experts and certified by UFC and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

The Wii Balance Board will be supported but not required for play, much like in EA Sports Active 2. A leg strap, that will likely hold the Nunchuck controller, will also be included.

“UFC Personal Trainer delivers an authentic UFC fitness experience that is both fun and challenging while providing an intense workout,” said THQ studio boss, Danny Bilson.

“With the help of NASM and its Optimum Performance Training model, as well as the expertise of renowned MMA trainers Mark DellaGrotte, Greg Jackson and Javier Mendez, we are developing an original, high impact product that will help people around the world set and achieve their personal fitness goals.”

UFC Personal Trainer is due for release in June on Wii, PS3 and Kinect.

The workout title will deliver “an authentic UFC fitness experience that is both fun and challenging while providing an intense workout,” according to core games boss Danny Bilson.

Trainer will provide a “challenging and motivating UFC fitness experience that includes the best and most effective exercises utilized by today’s renowned UFC fighters.”

It’s coming out for PS3 with Move support, 360 with Kinect support – there’ll also be exclusive content for that version – and Wii.

“We are excited to join forces with THQ on the development of UFC Personal Trainer,” added UFC president Dana White.

“We want to give fans the opportunity to train like their favorite UFC athletes, and this product will enable people around the world to learn and utilize exercises to get real results.”

There will be around 28 costumes distributed over time through SpotPass with Team Ninja stating that the game will have a “release day only” downloadable costume. This means that if you want this unannounced costume, you will have to buy the game at launch.

The launch costume will be made available at 10:00am day one, while the rest will be available each day (except for Mondays) post launch at 9:00am starting March 24. The last available DLC costume via SpotPass will be released on April 24.

Ono told IGN the rumours were the result of light-hearted comments being taken seriously.

“I mentioned it was an interesting idea that somehow transmogrified on the Internet into me saying I was going to do it!” he said. “I have no plans to do it.”

The producer was widely reported to have said he wanted to pitch the concept to Nintendo, but now says the crossover is unlikely.

“I certainly don’t think anything is impossible, though not terribly likely is probably a way to phrase it,” he said.

“I had to go to Nintendo President Iwata-san and actually apologize that I let things get out of hand,” he added.

Ubisoft’s announced a new, multi-platform fitness title known as Fit in Six.

The title will feature six workout elements: core body, upper body, lower body, balance, flexibility and cardio.

The Wii version of the game will use a USB camera supported by the console, while the PS3 version will feature support for PlayStation Move, using the same camera interactivity as the Wii version.

The PS3 SKU will also feature custom soundtrack support and will even suggest music for each workout you do. Add-on content will also be supported via PSN.
