Government to axe current ICT program for “open source” curriculum from September
The Government will announce later today it’s to scrap the current existing ICT (Information and Communications Technology) program in schools in England from the start of the new term in September.

Michael Gove, Education Secretary for the UK’s Department for Education, has publicly backed a skills review co-authored by Ian Livingstone and agrees that the digital skills gap affecting UK games development studios can be curtailed by supporting computer science as part of the national curriculum.

SOE opens applications for 2011′s GIRL scholarship
SOE’s asking for applications for its annual GIRL scholarship. Win, and you get a “$10,000 scholarship award to be applied toward tuition, room and board and other education-related expenses at the postsecondary school at which the winner is enrolled”: you already need to be both a US student and resident on a games-related under-grad course to apply.
