Sky has said it has “no plans to sell Xbox hardware as part of a Sky subscription,” a spokesperson told MCV. The comment was given as a response to rumors from earlier today, which stated the UK broadcaster was working with Microsoft to offer Xbox One consoles along with TV package subscriptions. Sources stated the Xbox One would serve as a set-top box for Sky television, or as a companion device. “We have a longstanding partnership with Microsoft by which we distribute our content via Sky Go and NOW TV on Xbox,” said the spokesperson. “We look forward to continuing to work with them as part of our commitment to giving our customers more ways to watch Sky programming in addition to their Sky+ HD box. “

The Minecraft Expo will take place during the Insomnia 49 event August 23-26. Minecraft game tournaments, presentations, and exhibition of community creations and talks will be present. There will also be costume competitions, build challenges for schools, a Minecraft Lounge, and free Minecraft competition. Yogscast, Mindcrack, Hat Films and The NoxCrew are special guests. The Insomnia event will also have various eSports tournaments, and development talks. Up to 15,000 visitors are expected to attend and streaming of the eSports events will take place. The Walking Dead is now available for purchase at UK retailers on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Announced back in April, the retail version is published by Avanquest Software, and contains the complete first season of the game. Charles Cecil MBE, industry vet and co-founder of Revolution Software, has been appointed to the board of the British Film Institute. Cecil is also a BAFTA ambassador, on the Creative Skillset Industry Council and founded Yorkshire games network Game Republic. His development firm also has a new, original, Broken Sword game in the works which was successfully Kickstarted in 2012. GAME has paid off paid private investment firm OpCapita and its backers £3.2 million in interest and “monitoring fees” toward the £103 million it owes the firm after brokered a deal to get the retailer out of administration. The figure was paid towards the balance in four months and the remaining balance will have 7.5% interest rate attached. GAME boss Martyn Gibbs told The Guardian the chain is expected to make £20 million in profit for the period ending July 31, and it plans to open 18 new stores during that time. Thanks, MCV.
