PlayStation Network going offline for scheduled maintenance starting tomorrow
Sony has announced PlayStation Network Scheduled Maintenance will occur tomorrow starting at 10:00 am EDT/4.00pm BST until 2:00am EDT/8.00am BST on Friday, May 25. During the maintenance, users will be unable to use the following services: PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP and PS Vita, PlayStation Network Account Management, and PlayStation Network Account Registration. In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PSN from the web. If you wish to play online during the maintenance, then you may be able to do so if you sign in to PSN before maintenance starts. Microsoft offering free 360 with purchase of new PC to students in North America
Microsoft is once again offering a deal for North American college students: buy a new PC from select retailers for $699 or more, and receive a 4GB Xbox 360 free. So much for productivity and that physics midterm. Participating retailers in the US include: Best Buy, Dell, Fry’s, HPDirect, Microsoft Stores, and NewEgg. Canadian students should check out: Best Buy, Dell, Future Shop, Staples and The Source. For those who decide to wait on the release of Windows 8, rumor has it the new OS will launch around June 2 and Windows 7 users can upgrade to it for $15. Thanks, Neowin.

Rumor – Wii U to release on November 18 in North America
If some leaked correspondence from a GameStop manager can be taken as truth, it looks as though Wii U may release on November 18. While not confirmed by any means, it would make a it of sense considering Nintendo’s penchant for Sunday release dates, as well as the fact the last two consoles also released in November. This new bit of information follows earlier rumors this week which had it pegged for November 19. Still keep this under your hat as a rumor for now until Nintendo announces a firm release date.

Mass Effect 3 figurines to include North American exclusive DLC
US retailer BigBadToyStore has posted a listing for Mass Effect 3 figures which include downloadable in-game bonus items exclusive to the North American release. Figurines for Miranda, Garrus, Mordin and Legion cost $17.99 each or in a four-pack for $67.99. Another pack containing Tali, Thane, Grunt and Shepard is currently on backorder, and are listed for the same price. The DLC content wasn’t mentioned in the report on MCV or in the retail listings. Mass Effect 3 is out in March for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

PS3 leading 2011 EU console sales, 360 maintains US hold
Nintendo detailed hardware units sales for the European and US markets in its first-half investor briefing this week, noting that PS3 has been the best-selling console in Europe for most of 2011. In the US, 360 is still king.

NOA announces Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue DSi XL bundles
NOA has announced blue and pink DSi XL bundles for the US. The packs will land in stores starting November 6. The Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue versions will come with Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem, and will run you $169.99. Nintendo announced earlier today that Icy White and Misty Pink 3DS bundles would launch in Europe on November 18, and will include a copy of Super Mario 3D Land, and Nintendogs + Cats, respectively.

EEDAR: 51% of NA PS3 and 360 owners purchased DLC over the last 12 months
Analysis firm EEDAR has estimated that 51 percent of PS3 and Xbox 360 owners have purchased downloadable content through their consoles over the last 12 months.
