With sales of over 100,000 units in its first weekend, Pokémon X & Y has become Australia’s fastest-selling Nintendo game. The new entry takes the title from precursor Pokémon Black & White, which managed 80,000 in its first week – a figure X & Y managed in over one day. The figures come courtesy of the NPD Group Australia. Nintendo Australia has released more stock of X & Y this week, as some retailers ran out completely.

The Australian Classification Review Board has opted to re-appraise the age ratings of 12 titles, following concerns flagged up by South Australian attorney general John Rau. He reckons the board hasn’t been strict enough when classifying such games as The Walking Dead and Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Speaking in Sydney last week, Abbie Heppe, Repsawn’s Community Manager spent twenty minutes summarising existing information about Titanfall as well as speaking to the teams goals for the game. Something about “easy to learn” while also being “hard to master”. There are five minutes of high octane gameplay starting at the 11:00 minute mark if you fancy, although I’m not sure it’s new footage. Video after the jump.

Dead Rising 3 has become one of the first games to receive the Australian Classification Board’s elusive R18+ ratings, ostensibly due to its “high impact” violence and gore, “strong impact” sex and “moderate impact” nudity. Which are all considered safer that Saint’s Row 4′s alien drug use and anal probe gun, which were just too salacious for us down under. Saints Row 4 only just released a few days ago here due to the cut necessary.

Microsoft has confirmed that Australians are eligible for the FIFA 14 pack-in pre-order bonus on the Xbox One, which arrives locally on November 29. The offer is said to apply to all pre-orders, not just the Day One edition, as in those European territories getting the console in November – presumably due to the smaller market size. The pack-in is a download code for a digital copy of the game rather than a disc bundle.

Kickstarter has added a subdomain labelled Australia, promising that the crowdfunding platform will be opened to Australia and New Zealand “in the very near future”. The platform is hosting two events in early September to educate potential creators (or just interested backers), and is offering email updates to those keen to get in on the action. Kickstarter began as a US-only scheme but soon extended to the UK and as of next month, Canada. In the past, Australian creators had to have access to a bank account in one of these territories to use the service.
