Plants vs Zombies trading cards on sale, all proceeds to charity
Plants vs Zombies trading cards are on sale at 20% off until November 30, with all proceeds donated to an unnamed charity. Polygon reports you can grab the cards for $79.20 from PopCap’s online store; each box contains 24 packs of seven cards. You’ll get all sixty unique cards in a full box, and PopCap will throw in a signed card or a sketch from original PvZ artist Rich Werner, the game’s original artist, during the sale.

The annual Desert Bus for Hope marathon, which has a troop of staunch soldiers playing the worst video game ever made for days on end to raise money for Child’s Play, is now taking donations. The more you give, the longer the poor players have to stick with the famously boring sim. With ten days till the event kicks off, gamers have already secured 74 hours of utter mind-numbing torture with more than $2,000 donated. ESA Nite to Unite raised over $800K for ten worthy causes
The Entertainment Software Association raised $822,000 at its Nite to Unite event this year, Destructoid reports. The annual black tie charity gala is in its 15th year and has raised over $12 million since launch. Beneficiaries for 2013 include the Federation of American Scientists, Parents’ Choice Foundation, Smithsonian American Art Museum and ThanksUSA. The event is mainly attended by industry insiders; Gabe Newell was inducted into its honouree ranks this year.

SCEE partners with Gamer Camp, offers PlayStation Academic Scholarships
SCEE has partnered with Birmingham City University’s Gamer Camp, which will see the firm offering up PlayStation Academic Scholarships. The goal is to help provide an opportunity for the next generation of UK talent through professional development studies. Four students will have half the fee for Gamer Camp paid, as given the opportunity for paid work in one of SCEE’s UK development studios for six months. WoW server blade auction raises $330,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Blizzard has announced its charity auction of retired World of Warcraft server blades has raised $330,000. The auction went live in October 2011, and featured a selection of blades which once housed WoW realms. All funds raised through the eBay auctions went to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
