DICE producer Daniel “zh1nt0″ Matros is participating in an eSports charity event through Charitystream, a concept founded by Matros and Tim Kjell. What occurs, is donations are obtained by folks who watch live game streams and the money goes to orphanages around the world. The donations also help buy supplies and record documentaries of the team’s efforts. Raffles are taken part in by viewers for items donated to the charity by sponsors. Viewers donate to the charity fund and then take part in a raffle to win this object. Three days ago, Matros participated in a Battlefeild 3 livestream, which you can re-watch on Twitch TV. Activision has forked over $2 million as a flat-out donation to Call of Duty Endowment, a charity it founded in 2009 to assist military veterans return to civilian life. Gamespot reports the donation comes on top of the $1.7 million the publisher raised through the sale of limited edition dog tags. The money will be awarded in grants to veterans’ employment organisations looking to open new branches.

Mojang has revealed that its February Mojam raised $517,489 for charity.

World of Warcraft’s Cinder Kitten vanity pet has raised over $2.3 million to support the American Red Cross. Proceeds from the $10 pet accumulated through December 31 benefit those displaced by Hurricane Sandy. To learn more about the pet, and Blizzard’s donation, hit up Battle.net.

Child’s Play, the charity geared towards raising money to buy games and toys for children’s hospitals and domestic violence relief centres has revealed it raised some $5 million throughout 2012. The charity has responded to the news by issuing its thanks to those who donated.

Those who purchased the Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition Halloween Skin Pack helped raise $770,448 which was donated to four charities. The charities are: Block by Block, SANDS Lothians, Child’s Play, and Macmillan Cancer Support. The pack was available through November 26 on XBL Arcade.
