Wildstar beta registrations now open to all
Carbine Studios has opened Wildstar beta registration to all comers; you can get on board here. NCSoft told Destructoid that the beta won’t follow the usual weekend-only pattern, with testing periods expected to run for a week or more at a time. Wildstar is expected later this year; its conceit is that it offers a cartoony sci-fi world to explore with a kind of wild west feel. It hopes to offer long-term end-game value.

Arma 3 alpha gets first major update
Bohemia pinged us to point out that the Arma 3 alpha has been updated. There are plenty of changes to take in but the key items include improved network performance, reducing vehicle lag; an end to some peculiar crashes; and that you can no longer throw grenades under water. Okay, maybe that last one is interesting mainly to me. Full patch notes are available on Steam.

Modern Warfare 4 beta scam doing the rounds
Just a reminder that anybody asking for your personal details to sign up for a Call of Duty beta is probably trying to steal your details and make your life miserable. Fusible has word of a new scam using the ModernWarfare4beta.com domain name. Some minor sleuthing quickly exposes the site’s owners, who have nothing at all to do with Infinity Ward or Activision. Similar scams turned up for Black Ops 2 last year, as well as for Halo 4, thanks to the enormous non-core audiences big name shooters command. Be wary.

Dota 2 surpasses Skyrim to break Steam users record
Dota 2 has surpassed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to nab the record of most concurrent users on Steam. Dota 2 peaked at 297,010 users on March 1, overtaking Skyrim’s 287,411, which at the RPG’s launch was the highest total player number Valve’s service had ever recorded for a single title. The occasion was noted by a Reddit user and even charted, showing the MOBA’s player base growing steadily; expect it to hold the record for quite some time.
Thanks, PCGamesN.
