Independent Games Festival and Valve have signed an agreement for IGF 2013 which will provide the main competition finalists an opportunity to accept a distribution agreement on Steam. Saxxy Awards winners have been announced by Valve, but to find out which short film won for Best Overall you’ll have to tune into the Spike Video Game Awards pre-show December 7, which is next Friday night.

A new character will be revealed for The Last of Us during the VGAs next week, according to a tweet from Geoff Keighley. The VGAs takes place on December 7 at 9.00PM EST. Those who do not have Spike TV will be able to watch the show on MTV 2, MTV Tr3s, Xbox LIVE, Spike.com and GameTrailers.com. Alternatively, you can just keep an eye on VG247 for any of the interesting bits, as I’ll be in front of the TV, liquored up, and posting anything newsworthy from the show.

Spike TV has revealed the list of nominees for the 2012 Video Game Awards. Game of the Year nominees include Assassin’s Creed 3, Journey, Mass Effect 3, The Walking Dead: The Game and Dishonored.
