The third annual Danish Game Awards were held tonight, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim walked home with not only and award for Best RPG, but Game of the Year as well.

BAFTA GAME Audience Award shortlist announced
GAME’s announced this morning the shortlist for the BAFTA GAME Audience Award for the 2012 BAFTA Game Awards. It features Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3, Minecraft and more. The award, which was paneled by Eurogamer’s Johnny Minkley, GameSpot’s Guy Cocker, OXM’s Jon Hicks, ONM’s Neil Long and Future’s Tim Clark, will be announced at the ceremony on Friday March 16 by “internet sensation” The Syndicate Project.

IGF 2012 Audience Award voting open now
Head on over to the Independent Games Festival Awards website to cast your vote in the Audience Award. You can download demos for many of the finalists then and there, but you’re also free to vote for games without demos, should you have independent motivation to do so. It’s a tough crowd this year with Dear Esther, Frozen Synapse, Fez, Spelunky and more. You only have until February 19 to get your vote in, so hop to it. This year’s IGF runs March 5-9.

Apple Game of the Year Awards honour Dead Space, Tiny Wings, more
The European and US arms of Apple have both determined their iPad and iPhone game of the year awards, with each branch honouring different apps. Privates, Just Dance 2 win at BAFTA’s Children’s Awards 2011
Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, Size Five’s Privates and Just Dance 2 were all awarded at the children’s BAFTAs last night, with the Lego title picking up the main award. Sex education game Privates won the Learning Secondary BAFTA. Developer Dan Marhshall said: “I can’t thank BAFTA enough for honouring a tiny studio who made a weird little game. It was a great night, and I’m brimming with pride. To stagger home with one of those oh-so-familiar shiny metal face awards is so surreal, and completely magical.”
