House of the Dead: Overkill heading for an iOS release
The Lost Reels is a remixed port of the original 2009 House of the Dead shooter and is set for release on iOS tonight. Broken into three “movies” or parts, the initial download offers the first movie, Papa’s Palace of Pain, and on playthrough will unlock the second movie, Ballistic Trauma. Naked Terror, the third part, must be purchased though. Each movie is made up of four levels and a boss battle.

Robot Unicorn Attack 2 launches
A sequel to Adult Swim’s endless runner Robot Unicorn Attack has launched in New Zealand in the lead up to a North American release. The sequel is available for iOS devices and features two worlds, 12 boost abilities, unicorn customisation options in the form of bodies, manes, wings and more.

Draw Something 2 releases in US today
Zynga, who acquired OMGPOP last year, have confirmed that Draw Something 2 is now available in the US for iOS devices. The sequel will feature a live social feed, player’s own gallery, a Free Draw mode that allows players to draw whatever they desire and share it with friends, new drawing tools and many new words.
Thanks to Polygon, who report the news was initially announced by Zynga CEO Mark Pincus during an investor call. The game is already available on iOS in Sweden (where it costs 22 kronor) and Canada (CA$2.99).

Apple filed a patent back in 2009 that turns in-game moral choices into an evolving comic book story, and uses Mass Effect’s dialogue system as an example. Given the rise of morally-focused adventure games out there today, this could be a neat little mechanic.

Apple Q2: iPad, iPhone sales up, Mac sales down
Apple sold 19.5 million iPads in the quarter ending March 30, up from 11.8 million in the same quarter of the previous financial year. Sales of iPhones were also up, at 37.4 million from 35.1 million. Mac computers, on the other hand, sold “just under” 4 million, down from last year’s flat 4 million. There wasn’t much else of interest to gamers in the tech giant’s financial report this quarter; the company reported revenue of $43.6 billion, up from $39.2 billion, but net profit of $9.5 billion, down from $11.6 billion.

Idolm@sater Shiny Festa games available on the App Store
Namco Bandai has released localised versions of three of its popular Idolm@ster games for iDevice. Rhythmic Record, Melodic Disc and Harmonic Score are ports of the Shiny Fest PSP games, and are available now from the App Store for $55 each. Each one contains an original animated feature, different idols, and free downloadable tunes, and weighs in at a hefty couple of GB each.

Injustice Wii U does not support iOS content unlocks – report
The Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us does not support content unlocks from the free iOS version, according to a report on Siliconera. Although it’s apparently missing this feature, supported by the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, the Wii U SKU does have off-screen play and a move list display for the Game Pad. NetherRealm’s latest is available now in Australia and the US and hits Europe on April 19.

Planetside 2 mobile app available now
Sony Online Entertainment has released a companion mobile app for Planetside 2, available now for free on Android and iOS. PCGamesN reports the app allows you to voice chat with your compadres, which is kind of amazing if you’re trying to organise whatever the shooter MMO has instead of raids. It also connects to various social media and community destinations, provides information on game systems, has a news ticker, offers leaderboards and stores your character’s stats for bragging rights at the pub.

Tekken Card Tournament downloaded over a million times in four days
Tekken Card Tournament developer Namco Bandai has shifted over a million downloads of the free turn-based brawler since it launched last week. The game is out now for browsers, as well as Android and iOS devices.
