Sega has announced a new version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, remastered for Android and iOS. In a post on the Sonic Retro forums, prominent Sonic fan community members Christian “The Taxman” Whitehead and Stealth were confirmed as the power behind the port, with Whitehead stating the new version is a Retro-Engine remake like that Sonic CD was recently graced with. Expect the mobile release this month for $3; owners of the existing version will be able to update for free. A Sonic 2 remake is also on the cards.

Ouya console reviews have begun creeping on to the internet, but the news so far hasn’t been too positive. Still, it’s early days yet and Ouya’s CEO Julie Uhrman has described the first wave of Kickstarter consoles as a preview period while the team refines the format.

Tekken Card Tournament is the new fighting game from Namco. It sees players collecting up to 191 cards and then using them to apply fists to face, feet to groins – and if you’re Kuma – arse to mouth. It’s out now on various devices and browsers.

Frozen Synapse will land on iPad in May, according to Mode 7. Announced at the end of 2011, the game will contain Cross-play between iOS, Android, Mac and PC versions and players will be able to start playing on one system and resume their game on another. The Red DLC which adds co-op and new missions will also be made available. The Android tablet release will occur after the launch on iPad. Thanks, Joystiq.
