Switch lifetime sales hit 36.87 million, Super Mario Maker 2 hits 2.42 million units sold - Nintendo Q1

Nintendo has released in Q1 financial report, noting lifetime unit sales of Switch currently sit at over 36.87 million.

During Q1 2019 of its current fiscal year, Switch sold 2.13 million units, bringing its lifetime total to 36.87 million units.

The quarterly figure is down slightly compared to the 2.47 million units Nintendo sold during Q4 2018. However, on an year-over-year (yoy) basis, its a 13.2% increase in unit sales.

For Nintendo 3DS, hardware sales totaled 0.2 million units, which is a 44.9% decline yoy.

Software

Software sales for the period ending June 30 reached 22.61 million units, a 25.9% increase yoy. During the period, Super Mario Maker 2 sold 2.42 million units within three days of release.  In addition, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 1.2 million units during the quarter, bringing its lifetime total to 17.89 million units

Digital sales for Switch during Q1 came to 30.6 billion yen ($281 million), up 65.3% yoy.  Lifetime software unit sales for Switch stand at 210.13 million. 

Mobile title sales reached 10 billion yen ($492 million), up 10% yoy. Q1 software sales for 3DS came in at 1.48 million units, a 49.7% decrease yoy.

The company also updated its list of best-selling Switch software titles.

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 14.73 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 13.61 million
  • Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee – 10.98 million
  • Splatoon 2 – 9.02 million
  • Super Mario Party – 6.99 million
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - 4.10 million
  • 1-2 Switch – 3.01 million
  • Mario Tennis Aces – 2.75 million

Q1 2019

For the company as a whole, net sales reached 172.1 billion yen ($1.078 billion). This includes overseas sales of 131.7 billion yen ($1.213 billion) which made up 76.5% of the total sales - a profit of 27.4 billion yen ($252 million).
