Spider-man's suit emblem being white rather than black "has a purpose" says Insomniac

Spider-man's emblem colour change is "explained in the game".

Insomniac's Spider-Man closed out Sony's E3 press conference last night and at long last, we got to see Spidey in action.

If you're a fan of the comics or have a passing knowledge of the character, you may have noted that the spider logo on his suit is white, rather than the historic black.

So as is normal on the internet, someone politely and respectfully put the question out there as to why the change was made.

Insomniac replied that the white emblem is "explained in the game and has a purpose."

So it wasn't an oversight or someone ignoring the canon for their own amusement. We can all breathe a sigh of relief and finally move on with our lives. Phew!
