Capcom grabs US trademark for Monster Hunter World

Capcom has secured a US trademark which might imply Monster Hunter XX is headed stateside.

Capcom Japan recently announced Monster Hunter XX for the Nintendo Switch, which is great news for fans of the series. But it turns out Capcom also gobbled up a US trademark for Monster Hunter World, suggesting North American players won't be left in the cold.

The trademark (spotted by Nintendo Insider) was filed on June 5, 2017 and applies to computer game software. Given how close we are to E3, it's possible this is a last-minute filing to avoid spoiling the announcement.

While Nintendo and Capcom aren't confirming details, it's likely Monster Hunter World will be an American version on Monster Hunter XX - unless it's a standalone game fans can get excited for. We should know more as E3 progresses over the weekend.
