Deep Silver confirms Dead Island 2 is still a thing.

We haven't heard a peep about Dead Island 2 for some time now, with the last news being the removal of the game's Steam page last year, leading to speculation that the title had been cancelled.

Initially in development with Yager for three years and set for a 2015 release, Sumo Digital took over in March 2016.

Eurogamer reached out to Deep Silver for an update, and they replied, "Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we are excited by the progress the team are making with Deep Silver's most successful IP.

"When we are ready to share more information, we will."

I loved Techland's Dead Island and Dying Light, so we'll see how Sumo Digital's sequel compares when it eventually comes out.

What are your thoughts on the sequel? Do you think it'll ever see the light of day? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
