Overwatch: Mei's "sorry, sorry, I'm sorry" voice line was an accident

One of Mei-Ling's most recognisable lines in Overwatch was not actually written by Blizzard.

All characters in Overwatch have voice lines that you can only hear this or that specific hero say. They usually offer different takes on the same attitude, but each one is said in a way you expect these characters to speak as.

The very polite and apologetic Mei's "Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry" voice line doesn't sound out of character for her, but the line wasn't actually in the script. Senior game designer Michael Chu revealed this at the first Tribeca Games Festival over the weekend, via Polygon.

"The actress [Zhang Yu] just made a mistake and was saying ‘Sorry, sorry, sorry,’" he told attendees when asked to name his favourite line from the game. "And I turned to the engineer and asked, 'Did you get that?'And he was like, 'Yep,' and I was like, 'Send that to me.'"

Overwatch fans now know who to thank every time they use the line, either sincerely, or troll others.
