Nier Automata's 3C3C1D119440927 DLC pack will arrive in Europe and North America on May 2 on both PS4 and PC, Square Enix has announced.

The DLC had been announced for a May 2 release in Japan, but we had expected at least a short wait before it was made available to Nier Automata players in other regions, and possibly even later on PC. Good on Square Enix for ensuring we can all check it out at the same time.

The Nier Automata DLC adds a challenge arena where you can tackle bosses and other kinds of encounters to unlock various cosmetic items.

These cosmetics include hair colours, outfits inspired by the first Nier game, and even items that change the colour of Nier Automata's bullet hell-style projectiles.

There are also a couple of new masks with gameplay effects of some kind, although it's not clear if these are stat boosts or something more experiential, like Nier Automata's retro graphics consumables. The boss battles include the chance to beat up the CEO's of both Square Enix and Platinum Games.

Nier Automata is great, in case you missed that memo somehow, has shipped 1 million copies and even led to a reprint of the original Nier in Europe.

Nier Automata is available on PC and PS4.
